2025 schedule news/rumors

Texas cant really be messed with on the front stretch due to the Condos in the Turns, this was on the Dale Jr download episode with Marcus Smith right after they announced Atlanta was going to get their conversion. They'd have to widen the front stretch to accommodate the steeper banking and the banking going into the turns which would have to be done by widening the front stretch and that would throw everything off.

The bigger tell on Texas is that the post suggests there's been a long history of entertaining races there. TMS only counts for that if you are looking at Indycar.

If I was commissioner of NASCAR, here are the changes I'd make right away for 2026 schedule:

Spring Bristol date goes to North Wilkesboro.

All Star Race goes to North Wilkesboro.

Las Vegas and Texas become part of the Championship Final rotation along with Homestead.

Yaaaassss straight from Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic.

What is the plan/rumors for the Chicago Street Race date in 2026? Is there another city looming as a frontrunner for a street race, and/or will Chicagoland be back? — Bill H.

“NASCAR’s three-year contract with Chicago to race downtown expires at the end of the current season, with the deal containing options that could see the partnership continue past 2025. It’s not clear whether NASCAR will return next year, but there is a growing sense in the garage that it may be time to conclude the partnership — lest diminishing returns begin to set in, much like how the Clash was shifted away from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after three years.

If NASCAR decides to end its successful first venture to race downtown in a major city, what’s next? Does it fill the created hole on the schedule by seeking a new city to host a street-course race, or add another oval?

NASCAR has made it clear they want to race in Southern California, with sources involved in the discussions indicating San Diego has been explored as a host for a street-course race. It’s unclear if a deal could come together in time for 2026, and there are other markets NASCAR is exploring, including the long-untapped Pacific Northwest.

Looking at oval options, a return to the Chicagoland Speedway certainly makes sense for multiple reasons. Although the track is located in Joliet, Illinois, it is still close enough to Chicago for NASCAR to maintain a presence in the United States’ third-largest market. That’s key. And Chicagoland, at a mile-and-a-half and with a worn surface, is an ideal fit for the Next Gen car, so the likelihood of a stellar race is high.

Yes, Chicagoland needs some upgrades, as can be expected for a facility that last hosted a Cup Series race in 2019. But those improvements aren’t deemed cost-prohibitive, according to league sources, and would be significantly less than what it costs to build and host a race in downtown Chicago.

From this perspective, if the Chicago Street Course isn’t on the 2026 schedule and San Diego is a year away, Chicagoland represents a worthy stopgap.”

If NASCAR wants to run a dozen or so Cup races on a Saturday night every year, why don't the local short tracks pay attention to the schedule and adjust theirs accordingly? You figure they know their customer base and would happily move some of their races to a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon to help their own ticket sales so they aren't "competing" against a NASCAR race on a Saturday night.

Hell, NASCAR could even offer incentives for that. Say they pick 150 short tracks across the country, and give them each $500 to cater to their schedule. The tracks would gladly take that money and it only costs them $75k, which is pocket change for NASCAR and would easily be made up (and then some) in increased ticket sales. I'm making a wild assumption here, but I feel like most fans would rather attend a race at 7:00 on a Saturday than 2:30 on a Sunday.

Yes I'm just throwing around random numbers, and no I haven't though this through, but the point is that NASCAR should find a way to run the races whenever they want, while keeping their entire fanbase happy. There's a million ways to make it work.
your assuming those running nascar are not seeking a way to work. I think they have their own TRUMP mentality and don't care if they are right or wrong.

Chicago has a hero for a mayor if you haven't been following the latest extortion plans. Lets keep our eyes and ears open for any improvement to Chicagoland. Those will come first.
