Some of those HendrickCars.Com flat brims are really cool

There is absolutely no such thing as a cool flat brim.
Yes there is. The MLB on field hats from New Era, the NFL sideline hats, NHL new era team hats and Larson’s HendrickCars hats. The world and fashion evolve, not everyone has to dress like it’s 1992 still.

I recall Gordo doing a Chevy ad with Tasmanian Devil, telling him how to act in Victiry Circle. One of Jeff's hints was to "Make sure your hat guy gets the brim shaped so you don't look like a dork."
That add is from 29 years ago. That hat was from 29 years ago. That’s a long time.

He'll bitch louder now that he can get a bigger cut at a dirt track.

Yep, from back in the days when we wore our hat brims, straight, curved, or otherwise, to the FRONT.
The New Era 59/50 hats are just fashionably made to be worn flat. There can be a slight brim if someone so chooses too. I like wearing those ones flat, I’m lucky my head is just the right size

It's not like I'm in the market anyway. When I'm birding, I wear a ventilated hat that provides as much shade as possible, with a soft brim that flexes above my binos or cameras. Otherwise, the only time I wear a hat is when I'm painting the ceiling.

My opinion of flat brims (and most fashion trends) is based on decades of being accustomed to certain looks. I'm still trying to figure out why people buy pre-damaged jeans. But hey, it's just a hat. Wear what you want; it's your money.

Interesting. I don’t care very much who gets to the top of merchandising sales/popularity. I would offer an observation; is this less about Larson becoming more popular than it is Chase slipping a bit in HIS popularity?

I postulate this because Elliot seems a tad off in his interviews. Almost sounds a bit disinterested, like he’s at work punching the clock verses being an ALPHA competitor doing something he is passionate about. Larson isn’t a dynamic personality, but he competes across multiple venues and events while being successfully aggressive in NASCAR. Chase hasn’t been weekly top 5 material for a while.

I have no dog in this show, just not sure Larson will be voted most popular driver this season, even if his T-shirts edge out.

Not 1992. The ENTIRE HISTORY of baseball caps until somebody decided they knew better. Fads come and go. True style is forever.

I would act disinterested too if I were driving the 9. They are just NOT good right now. Last night was absolutely PAINFUL to watch. I swear to God that if Chase actually went forward on a restart, CNN would run it as "Breaking News". Driver? crew chief? engineers? who knows, but I can't recall a less impressive performance from a team solidly in playoff contention. If I see this team use a pit strategy like they did in stage one one more time, I'm going to throw a brick at the TV. How does pitting 8 laps after the first cars pit, but 30 laps BEFORE Blaney pits accomplish anything? Talk about the worst of both worlds. The ONLY ones performing worth a damn is the pit crew. It has to be frustrating for them to gain the team 1-3 spots on pit road only to see the driver give up 4-10 spots on the restart.

Straight bream caps are DORKY!!!!! JMHO

The really cool / funny caps are those big ass Hendrick caps.
I think those are stupid as hell too. It's OK to put one on a shelf or hang on the wall or something, but once you put it on your head you just look like a clown. Got some size 25 shoes to go with it?

You really are a grouch, ya know it. :D

I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to with the vast amount of double merch. Plus I love all the Larson nut huggers that want to act like Chase has no personality when Larson has equally as little.

Well there was that one time Larson showed personality and inexplicably exploded in popularity afterwards…

Hmm. I wonder why Larson is outselling everybody else in the series? Could it be he races a lot? Could it be he gives more to the sport? I know it sure isn't about hats.

Well I didn't want to mention that elephant in the room but I bet the 2020 venn diagram of people who are still mad at Bubba for something he didn't do and people who suddenly began to love Larson despite not even being sprint car fans is a circle.

Finally someone who thought before they posted

All this time and the standard few still bring up the racist card, gives the saying the kettle calling the pot black real credence. Stop it already.

Well said. Chase seems to have lost consistent speed over the last 2.5 years and it's hurt his visibility yet. He's getting solid finishes but seems to never be one of the fastest cars. I wouldn't be shocked to see a crew chief change soon

Larson is the most active race car driver in the country: I can't be surprised that he's managed to get some people to care and buy merch.

As for the cap discussion, if you're 45 and under and you want a nice ball cap, you're never touching the bill and definitely not taking the sticker off.

The truth doesn’t stop being true just because time passes. I give Larson credit for his personal atonement but it doesn’t change the fact around who jumped on his bandwagon back in 2020.
