Xfinity RACE thread --- Pocono

The kid is so impressive in talent and personality. It will be interesting to see how his career develops.

No doubt plenty of Cup teams have their eye on him, he's such a natural.

This really IS a thing that I mentioned after Michigan. When Chase is up front it is just a caution fest which gives others the chance to play more strategy and obviously keep up. Had this been a typical Pocono snooze-fest of long green runs as it normally is Chase wins going away. When case is back in the back though needing a caution to stay in the game when passing is tough we will run the whole damn stage caution free. I know it's all luck but it is pretty amazing. Same thing used to happen to KK. Look at his Indy win in 2017. He basically had to "win" that race 4 times and people just kept crashing behind him. I also find it very interesting that Chase is struggling to qualify in the Cup car so much but goes out and poles this car in XFINITY.

There are more competitive cars in Cup than Xfinity. The dropoff from HMS / JRM to the rest of the Xfinity field is pretty steep. Gibbs and RCR are close but there's not much below that.

Yeah I get that but still feel like it's more car than Chase at the cup level right now. I mean yes - Quals. is probably one of the weaker parts of his game but not on the level of restarts to me. I think in a more capable care he could qualify more in top 5-10. Also interesting me that Chevy is such a dominant force in XFINITY right now when the cars are more like the last-gen cup car but they seem to be playing third-fiddle right now to the Toyotas and Fords in cup. I think this is all part of the puzzle for Chase.

That 2017 Indy race was wild
