Comcast owns NBC, it does not own versant.
Versant as an independent spinoff from Comcast can buy, sell or merge with other networks more easily than they could when part of Comcast. Who knows what direction they will go.

This is the objectively correct answer. There are no alternative answers which are valid because this is the only one. We can argue about that even and it changes nothing about whether or not this is true.
