THE CLASH

Also it was a complete joke at Daytona. Basically everyone just driving single file trying not to wreck

In the latter years, yes. At one point, it was actually a good race.

It was supposed to be the first Cup race of Speedweeks, which is why it was special. If it’s not at Daytona, they might as well dump it. It seems to be more headache than it’s worth.

Is there really no on track action until Wednesday of next week in Daytona? I guess it doesn't matter much then if they push it back a week.

Honestly it’s getting comical at this point watching them try to pull this off, and I’m not sure if they are going to end up having time or not. I hope they do. If not I wonder what will happen. There is no precedent for this with an exhibition race. Other ones have been rescheduled to the end of the season etc in extreme case in the last, it those weee points races. It’s kind of entertaining watching.

That being said, regardless, I’m in a bit of a pretty bad emergency situation possibly and may not be getting to watch anything for a while unless I find a way to resolve it, which is looking increasingly more unlikely, more unlikely than them being able to pull off this race unfortunately. Perfect timing with Nascar coming back, which is basically the only thing I truly enjoy anymore other than my two dogs.

So if they do I really hope you guys can enjoy it as great little kickoff for the season.
FYI I was just having a bad night last night and for now at least everything is fine now. :)

Still a small, mischievous part of me wants to see it snow just to see how they handle that with the 500 rapidly approaching.

Why bother? If you can't to it right, don't do it at all. They've waited this long, might as well wait until Thursday when the forecast is partly cloudy. My 2 pennies.
The racing might be better with a wet track. Only one way to find out.....

They could probably legitimately run it tomorrow night with the wet tires.

Agreed.

Folks, it's a flat quarter mile. You're taking a 180 degree exit off the the interstate at a faster speed than the corners at BG. Rain or snow NASCAR is motivated to finish this and they will.

Someone actually made a good point on Sirius NASCAR radio today: scrap the Clash & All-Star race and just schedule 38 points races. Why not? Start the season before the Super Bowl, followed by an off-week, and then the West Coast swing.

Yea I’m kinda coming around in that theory, the clash serves little purpose now that’s it out of Daytona and the All Star race serves even less. Just cut these two events out and give the industry two extra weeks off is my vote.

I've been calling for one or both of those to come to an end. They were fun in the early days, not so much these days.

No offense but I've never understood a race fan calling for less laps or less races.

More More More! is my vote.
NASCAR is actually extending a couple races this year for a change. Watkins Glen is getting bumped up to 100 laps, and North Wilkesboro has been changed to 450 (previously it was always 400). Which makes me happy, I've been wanting some longer races added back for a while.

Define 'right'. It's an exhibition race using a format Cup never runs anywhere else. It can't be 'wrong' by definition, regardless of tires.
The thing to me is if you want a joker race, then make it one. If it were up to me I'd do something like turn sprinklers in one turn and nothing else. See how they deal with a half wet - half dry track

They needed to draw for qualifying groups places. It looks like the phoned it in and went by how they finished for the season.

LOL at calling 10-12 inches a "massive" snowstorm. You southerners world would come to an end if you had a real "massive" snowstorm! Massive is 2+ feet.
I can't argue with that, we are the actual snowflakes down here when the weather hits.
