2026 Silly Season

How's that? I don't think Justin brings the money to get the ride like Riley. Not to mention what Justin was doing in RWR equipment was impressive to say the least.
Haley 31st out of 36 last year. Haley 31st the year before out of 34 . Lajoie 33 of 34...Those are Rick Ware numbers? Impressive?

Last year Zane Smith 28th, Hocevar 23rd.

He never completed a entire season at RWR and getting 2 top 10's at non plate tracks in his 29 starts for a team that probably never had a top 10 outside a plate track is pretty impressive.

This is big league auto racing, results and production are what a driver is judged on, despite contract if a guy isnt producing change will be made despite contract. Spire is still building something and frankly the driver's they've launched vs who now are employed in those seats are complete upgrades. It happens all the time in big league auto racing and sports, guys are paid to go away and contracts are honored via buy out.

the other cars run great because Bowman is experimental and has been for years.
I dont get why folks keep saying and thinking this. It's been like that since the 88 was the 25 team. There is absolutely no basis for this at all. I remember when Jr was going through it in 2009 and 10, good god the amount of "Rick is hindering Jr because he's giving him the left over equipment after the 24&88 and they're just giving the the 88 the experimental equipment" posts on socials was nauseating.

With a driver like Hocevar you have a feeling he can bust off a win. Lajoie in all his years, I never thought that. It wasn't any different when he went down to the Truck series.

agree, I feel most confident in Carson getting a win and even contending for a Chase spot in due time over anyone they've employed in the past. I feel confident that Suarez and McDowell can get a win over anyone else they've employed as well. Spire has got a nice little driver roster, if Carson ( thats a big if) can keep it together between his ears this a great building block for them. Carson had a pretty good season considering the upheaval at Spire last year. I think he builds on that this year and he will win a Cup race race, I just hope he keeps the stupid down to a minimum.

I've never thought Hocevar was stupid, fearless, yeah. He isn't afraid of poking his nose in there and the pedal is always on the floor. I think with experience comes wisdom if you are fast to start with. He took on the big 3 teams at Bowman Gray in all kind of ways, led a bunch of laps and got taken out. That bunch has to be feeling pretty good going to Daytona. Lajoie couldn't make the show.

Oops, that should have been 24&48.

The problem with Carson is he's been pissing guys off for a couple years now and when it comes time to wanting to get cut some slack it isn’t going to happen. When he took the lead at the Clash to me it wasn't a matter if he was gonna get moved, it was just when. See how well he was treated back in the pack?

Well eventually he’s talented enough to have a car good enough to outrun the “guys cutting him some slack” and just win the race. Talent exceeds that, they didn’t cut Jeff Gordon slack in the 90’s either and he still managed to kick their ass. Not saying Carson is JG but he’s talented enough for where that might not matter if he just outruns them. I think once he manages to race out front consistently he’ll maybe make better decisions because it’s different racing upfront than mid pack or in the back.

The thing is I don't see Spire being able to give him a car to win flat out on speed right now, outside of Daytona or Talladega. The relative stagnant car design isn't doing those guys any favors.

Motorsports sponsorship is getting harder to come by with each passing day. A lot of businesses and companies are spending their money on the successful people or not getting involved period. I've seen a local tracks, regional series and racers having a difficult getting any sponsors. For Bubba losing McDonald's, it's more of the companies changing their spending habits than it is anything person with Bubba.
I can’t imagine how difficult it is to sell sponsorship at the local/regional level these days. Unless you’re a business owner that’s funding your own team for fun and slapping your own company name on the car, I don’t see how outside businesses could really be convinced that forking over thousands of dollars to be on the hood of a late model is a good investment.

I agree with this. Carson has made some boneheaded moves, but I’ve felt since he was a truck regular that he’s one of the next big Cup talents of the next generation. Spire isn’t yet the best place to showcase talent, but I think if he were in say a Hendrick car that we’d be talking about him a lot come Sundays.

Agreed, and I think he’ll get picked up by a bigger team in a couple years or so. I can see him taking over the 48 eventually.

If I was Hendrick, I would have my eyes set on Corey Heim. Carson is on another up-and-coming team, while Heim doesn't even have a full-time ride in any of the series.

He is or at least was under contract with 23XI. There seems to be some weird ties to TRD there, but yet JGR wants nothing to do with him because of Ty
