I get vertigo when I drink too much.
I had it once, triggered by wearing glasses with a new prescription for too long. It sucks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone here.

I managed to get it via COVID back in 2021. It hasn't fully gone away, and triggers when I'm at the top of a staircase.

I hope that Alex can make a full recovery most of all just to have a better quality of life. I obviously hope it gets even better with 100 percent recovery that allows him to race again.
He has been banged up a lot the last few years and this only has to add up to more pressure for him and the entire 48 team. The odds are decreasing but I hope still all works out in spite of it all.

I've never had Vertigo. But I had a bad inner ear infection many years ago where everything was spinning, even with my eye closed. I got rid of it after a couple of days thanks to a good doctor and the right medication. I can't imagine having Vertigo where it stays with a person for a long period of time.
I was diagnosed with what is called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
BPPV happens when tiny canalith particles break loose and fall into the wrong part of the semicircular canals of the inner ear.
Fortunately, a physical therapist was able to relieve the symptoms with a series of movements called the canalith repositioning procedure.
The canalith repositioning procedure moves the particles from the inner ear to a part of the ear where they won't cause vertigo.
The relief was so great that after the procedure, which only took minutes, I gave the therapist a hug.

BTDT. Not the Cup driving but been essentially off my feet for weeks at a time several times. It was the final nail in my hare scrambles (dirtbike) career. Hard to ride those things if can't move ur head around. I won't be surprised if he bails like Dale Jr did. Can't race with a head that can't figure out which way is up.

I am the furthest thing from a Chain Gang apologist, but the fact that NASCAR won't allow him to get into a real car at a real track to determine his readiness is taking the no testing thing too far, and it is the most dumb ass thing ever. Enough already.
While I mostly agree, would he have been able to schedule time on Cup series track on such little notice even if NASCAR had allowed it? Considering Hendrick has a stake in Ten Tenths, they probably got the track time cheap or even free.
If Bowman had been allowed to "determine his readiness" at Bristol, could that have been considered by some to be unallowed practice ?
There's also the time and expense of preparing and transporting a car. Much cheaper to use a street car. Determining if vertigo no longer affects his driving doesn't require a race car and sanctioned track.

I hope that doesn't cause a long-term reduction in the testing teams sometimes do at Kershaw Carolina Motorsports Park. I like knowing a road course in a boondock mill town can attract Cup teams. Plus my mother-in-law

It's hosted sports car and motorcycle clubs from SC NC GA, LeMons, etc. NASCAR teams have tested there, including the Garage 56 entry. I doubt testing is a big part of the income but being able to mention it may bring a touch of prestige.

Teams don't get to test anywhere using a car that is used in Nascar unless it is an approved test. That is why they had Bowman using a street car on a non Nascar track I would guess.
You are, of course, correct. I'd completely forgotten all testing is no longer allowed, including tracks not on the schedule.
