    hendrick 2019

Just wanted to drop a Congrats to Jimmie Johnson on his Boston Marathon run. What an accomplishment! 3 hours and 9 minutes. I think Jimmie ran 26 miles in about the same amount of time it takes cup cars to go 500 miles around Daytona...

    2019 Richmond I -- Toyota Owners 400 -- Pre-Race Thread

Are they adding traction compound this weekend? Hard tires, night race, do not help the passing situation.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

My question is, why do we need a doubleheader? I thought that's why we have Xfinity and the Truck Series?

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Especially since 14 of the 16 drivers are already set. So now Daytona 2020 will focus on where Paul Menard, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, and Erik Jones are located at all times.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Why did we move Daytona to the final race before the playoffs? Daytona doesn't need help with viewers and that final race was actually pretty exciting at Indy, esp since Indy has troubles keeping the racing interesting. Hopefully by then the high downforce package is long gone.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

I would rather they start reconfiguring the cookie cutters into smaller tracks. i.e. if they ever decide to repave Chicago, just reconfigure the whole track into a Rockingham replica. Turn Texas into an original Bristol configuration. Bank the turns of NHMS to 15 or 20 degrees. Make Kansas the...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the purpose of a doubleheader? I know people are making the conclusion that one of the races would be held on the road course, but what if it is just 2 races on the triangle? To me a doubleheader at Pocono is a death sentence for the track. Because...

What Do you Think of the New Package?

Interesting read. Unfortunately, his conclusions are incorrect, or he just ignores the amount of downforce is lost when the trailing car approaches the lead car. More downforce isn't the answer, but less downforce is better for passing because the aerodynamic grip "curve" is flatter at lower...

What Do you Think of the New Package?

If they insist on keeping this aero package can we at least limit it to the 1.5 tracks? Those races are normally boring anyway, and having this high downforce package makes them slightly less boring on restarts. Then, on the rest of the tracks, let's take the rear spoiler down to 1 inch. Does...

    General Sim Racing Discussion

It will probably be the same outcome in the long run, but you never know. I was always a fan of the legends cars too but everyone complained they were too hard to drive so now, no one drives them. Basically, it's NASCAR or nothing. I think the IMSA/WEC/GT series on the road side will continue to...

Ernie Irvan - poverty, success, injury & comeback

I remember Ernie winning that last Michigan race in '97. He was later replaced by Kenny Irwin Jr. who later passed away when his throttle got stuck at NHMS. The exact same thing happened to Adam Petty a year or two later. Really sad stories because both drivers were really talented. Adam Petty...

    General Sim Racing Discussion

So this is coming to iracing! I haven't been a member for quite some time now, due to family issues, but I might have to sign up again to try this out. I always loved the old papyrus off-road racing sim. Says it will be in the June release but my guess is christmas at the earliest unless iracing...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

As Phoenix resident I would love to have the final race here, but the core of the NASCAR community lives on the south east coast and I think that's where the season finale should be. I think Charlotte, Atlanta, or Daytona make sense to have the final race at. Homestead is ok, but maybe a little...

so why did nascar seem cooler in the 80's? broadcast was way better!!

Yeah it could definitely be better if they weren't running down pit road, and if jamie little were doing it, but i like the concept of walking pit road before the race.

so why did nascar seem cooler in the 80's? broadcast was way better!!

I love watching that old broadcast and seeing how different it was back then. They show an in car camera shot of DW (around 22:07) and to see the difference in the equipment from then to today, and how open the "****pit" was back then. Truly remarkable! The style of racing back then at Daytona...

so why did nascar seem cooler in the 80's? broadcast was way better!!

Agree, the broadcasts today are terrible when compared to the broadcasts of the 80's and 90's. I still want them to walk pit road more often. As much as i'm not a huge fan of Michael Waltrip, I enjoy his walk down pit road and wish he would do it much slower. It's cool to see what is going on...

What Do you Think of the New Package?

LOL, Don't think it can happen in a race with a restrictor plate at a track that isn't named Daytona or Talladega? Better check again! https://www.racing-reference.info/race/2000_Dura_Lube_300_Sponsored_by_Kmart/W

What Do you Think of the New Package?

NASCAR got extremely lucky yesterday. They wanted pack racing and didn't get it, but the fact that they can't make in-car track bar adjustments saved the day, otherwise I think Harvick would have led every lap yesterday. Clean air is definitely king once again. As teams get more experience with...
