Decided to start a thread for general sim racing discussion, all sims are welcomed and all kinds of discussions (as long as it doesn't violate forum rules) are welcome.

So I've been running nothing but dirt, Limited Late Model on the oval side and GRC Ford Fiesta on the road side. I've been slowly getting better on the Limited Late Model. Last week, I started out having problem finding speed at Lanier, which is the shortest track on the schedule. After I figured out what I was doing wrong and started working on that, I've gotten faster. In one of the last races I did last week, I was able to battle it out with a guy for 5th place. I finally passed him by having a better exit than him.

This week, the Limited Late Model is at Volusia Speedway. It's much faster track than Lanier, and even though I got the general feel of how to drive the LLM, I still have to adjust it a little bit for each track. I did one race tonight and I started last, and finished one position above in 6th. There was only 7 cars in the field. I'm hoping that I can improve on that as the week progresses.

Red Bull's Global Rallycross was at Daytona last week, and this week. The difference is that last week we ran the short configuration and this week, we're doing the long configuration. My best race last week was kind of accidental. I did my qualifying run, and I thought I had time to go use the bathroom before the main. So I went and did my business, and I walked back to my ****pit only to find that I missed the griding time. So I was worried that I wouldn't be able to be in the race. As soon as the pack went through the Start/Finish line I was able to join in. This was the race where I managed to finish 2nd.

As I've said, this week we're doing Daytona Long, and I did two races tonight. Got crashed out of both of them on launch because people don't know how to hold their line. As a result, I lost .11 Safety Rating, which hampers my goal of getting out of GRC Rookie. I think the best I can do this week and recoup the lost SR and next week, try to get out of Rookie. Fun times all around.

I should graduate from Project Cars 2 to iRacing. Is the handling easier on iRacing is my question. It’s so so easy to spin out on that game

I wouldn't say it's easier, but it is more accurate to the real world counterpart.

I did two GRC races yesterday. Following the advice of other GRC drivers, I hung back at lunch and on Turn 1 and let everyone wreck themselves out. That got me a 2nd place finish both time and I gained .13 SR. If I can get my SR to 3.0, I automatically get promoted to D class on the dirt road side, which is more GRC, but now with heat races and a main!

The races themselves were a bit boring aside from having to dodge drivers who hadn't yet grasp how to drive these machines on the dirt, but on the second race as I was going down one of the straight away on the course, I ran out of gas and I crossed the finish line on literal fumes. I thought it was hilarious.

In case y'all want to see the paint schemes that I run on iRacing.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my dirt street stock car and I'll take screenshots of that. Next I'll work on the Dirt Late Model and Dirt Modified.

Oh my gods, tonight was insane!! I did one GRC race and I did one Dirt Limited Late Model race. Both of them were intense and Hella fun!!

This week, the Rookie GRC was at Phoenix. I didn't qualify (again) and started in the back row. We launched and as always, there's a crash on the first turn, so I manage to avoid that. I made my way around the course and doing pretty good. Then another wrecked car was on the NASCAR portion of the course and he backed into me as I was trying to get around him. Of course this knocked my steering out of wacked, but I was determined to get my machine across the finish line. So with a crooked steering wheel, I made my way around the circuit and actually managed to pass one or two more person. I had to use more braking on the dirt than I would've liked, but you have to do what you have to do. At the end of the day, I finished 2nd and I actually got promoted to D Class Dirt Road!

Now the Limited Late Model race at Williams Grove. It took me two races to find my speed, and on the third race I crashed out by hitting the edge of an opening in the wall on the back stretch. Tonight I was determined to have a good race, and this was going to be my last LLM race of the week. So I had to put on a good showing.

As always, I qualify poorly, ended up 8th in a field of 14. There was a crash on the 2nd turn, I made my way through, moved up to 5th. I managed to keep up the pace, battling with the 6th place person. However, there was a lapped car that kept spinning out and getting in my way at the worst time. I always caught this driver in the turn.

Well one of those time that driver backed into me (there's a pattern) and I got spun out. Of course my car was damaged and I fell back to 11th place. I was not happy and I let the driver who wrecked me know I wasn't happy. However, I wasn't about to pit to get my car fixed. It was a 35 lap race and I had to work with what I had. I managed to make my way back up to 10th, however in the closing lap I made a couple of mistakes, had to gather myself back up. This gave the front pack a chance to catch up to me with 5 laps to go. I gave up the inside and started making the topside work, and make it work I did. I managed to hold off the front pack to finish 10th, but I finish on the lead lap. It was intense and it forced me to call upon all of my dirt racing talent, and it paid off. I may not have had a good finish tonight, but I am pretty damn proud of how I finished out.

So the 2019 Aero Package for the Monster Energy Cup Cars has come to iRacing and I gotta say, the cars are very planted now. Ran a couple of Carb Cup races in my Toyota Camry and yea, that car is just planted to the race track. At Phoenix, it's easier to have multiple laps side by side racing and fight for position. For the first few laps at Phoenix, you can go hard on the throttle and use minimum brakes. However, tire wear is still a thing, so you can't do that for a whole run before pitting again.

Most fun I’ve ever had driving on a sim. **** is so stable you can pull off some nice moves

Most fun I’ve ever had driving on a sim. sh!t is so stable you can pull off some nice moves

After running the package on Phoenix in iRacing, I'm mostly sold on it. I mean some people may not see it as a balls to the wall racing, but it is a lot of fun to race with.

I'm kind of on the fence about the SODA Trucks, I mean, what's to prevent this from going the same way as the RallyCross did?

It will probably be the same outcome in the long run, but you never know. I was always a fan of the legends cars too but everyone complained they were too hard to drive so now, no one drives them.
Basically, it's NASCAR or nothing. I think the IMSA/WEC/GT series on the road side will continue to be big also because the real world series is really gaining momentum.
I could see this LucasOil deal really doing good things for the real world series in that more fans from iracing might start watching. That's how I got into NASCAR.

I already love short course off road truck racing so if I ever get my Iracing account going again I'd definitely do it. I lost my wheel and computer in my divorce though so it's been on the back burner

Yea not going to lie, I became a huge fan of dirt racing when it came to iRacing, so I can see that.

Wow, that is rough man.

I’m waiting to get faster internet for dirt. My country crap I currently have just can’t accurately stream it

So I've been racing dirt every week, somewhere between 2 races to 4 races a week. I'm 8th in the standings for my division at the moment so there's some stiff competition. However, I think I've finally found some speed. Tonight the series was at USA Speedway (dirt) and I managed to qualify third. Was able to hang with the top three guy and move up to second. Was battling with the first place guy until he spun out and I got collected. Managed to finish the race with a 6th place finish.

Not the result I was looking for, but I am glad that I'm making progress and I've finally found speed. Here's hoping I start making podium finishes and grab a couple of wins.

@SpeedPagan I saw Iracing post that they are having AI as an available option what are your thoughts on that?

Personally, I hope that is true. I will start playing it. I don't have the time or the patience to play online against a bunch of sore loser types.
