What races are you planning to go to in 2019

Atlanta Talladega Spring Chicago Bristol Night Race Darlington Talladega Fall Has anyone been to the Cup Series race in Chicago? Are there usually lots of empty seats in the shaded area underneath the suites I could move up to? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

    BUBBA WALLACE FINISHED SECOND!

Yeah sponsorship in general is a problem now. I remember Kyle Petty said the only way for Bubba to significantly improve his plight would be to change teams to a better funded outfit (which I'm sure wasn't easy for him to say).

    BUBBA WALLACE FINISHED SECOND!

Just saw they post above on Facebook from one of my fave sports commentators. It's true that lack of funding is the reason Bubba hasn't been more successful. I really hope he receives the financial backing he deserves via additional sponsorship at RPM. Otherwise he will have to join a more...

    Just realized this......manufactures

I wish Dodge would get back into Cup Series. I'd also like to see Honda give it a go. They are so good in damn near every kind of racing they get involved in, I'd like to see what they could do here. I like variety. And I don't buy the complaints about "Japanese manufacturers" and whatnot...

    The Attendance Thread

I was kinda wondering if there were any tracks which would have enough fan support to reasonably host 3 Cup Series races in a year. Has that ever been done in NASCAR history? As long as I can remember every track gets 1 or 2. If it were going to be tried today I think they would have to do it...

attendance not a problem at dega

Yes they did play up that 50th anniversary thing a good bit. And that infield transformation project they are working on seems incredible. It will be up and running in the Fall and I'm excited to see that. Will definitely be getting the passes for that, in addition to my grandstand seats.

attendance not a problem at dega

The 190k figure was the total for the entire 3-day weekend. (Capacity for a single race at Dega now is only about 80k). The track manager said that was up slightly over the same race last year. Seemed like more than a slight increase to me.

    The Attendance Thread

Not only was it a nice crowd at Dega yesterday, but the energy level was really high too. Obviously it helped that Chase was doing really well for most of the race - lots of enthusiasm for him - but the overall competitiveness made everyone more excited. I think the weather helped too - it was...

attendance not a problem at dega

I was there yesterday. I also attended both of the Cup Series races there last year, and yesterday definitely seemed more full than either one of them. That could have just been because I was sitting closer to the start-finish line yesterday. How did it look on TV? Did it seem more full than in...

    The Attendance Thread

Yes, price is definitely a factor in this, as it is in all things in a capitalistic society. But we have to remember - for Cup Series races the price has not really increased during this current 10+ year decline in attendance. If anything it's gotten cheaper with all the ticket specials they...

    The Attendance Thread

Yes people will come. People do come. Just not as many as before. And that is a consistent trend across racing, football and baseball. I think peoepe are just softer than they used to be. You gotta make things easier for them in order to get them out from in front of their HD televisions in...

    The Attendance Thread

It's just tough to get a lot of people to go out to an outdoor event in large venues nowadays. You see the declines in baseball and football as well. Doesn't stop me from enjoying the races (or the football and baseball games too). We will probably continue to see the trend towards just making...

    The Attendance Thread

Yes it was a nice crowd I thought. Definitely way better than last year when it was under threat of rain. I would guestimate about 75% full. Last year was clearly less than 50%.

Steve Phelps on NASCAR: "We lost our way.."

I'm fine with more downforce - that might actually make them be able to stay faster in the turns. It's the less horsepower that disappoints me.

    Racing Back to the Line

Let them race to the line. And while you're at it, dump restrictor plates without doing anything else to slow the cars down. Racing is dangerous. That's part of why it's exciting.

Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Agreed. But Mr. Hendrick seems like such a great guy and he treats his people like family, so it's almost like he is passing it on to family.
