    In Defense of Joey Logano

Despite the fact that Logano is right there with being my LEAST favorite driver of the last 20 years, you have to hate the system, not the driver that takes advantage of it, and even though he shouldn't have even BEEN in this round of the playoffs, you can't fault Joey or the 22 team for taking...

    Silly Season 2025

It's funny to me that with all of the head case drivers and actual bad actors out there, Matt seems to be the one of the only ones that paid a real price. And for what? Because he speaks his mind and has some opinions that some might disagree with? I feel awful for the Wood Family, as there are...

Cup RACE thread --- Las Vegas

My only counter to that would be that Elliott saw what was about to happen and was trying to bail out. Should not Reddick, who had the best view of all used a little more discretion?

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

They didn't need charters to guarantee starting spots. The various NASCAR car owner plans accomplished that in the short term and easily could have been modified to accomplish it for a much longer term. The same goes for the payouts. The reason the RTA was pushing for charters was EXACTLY to...

    todays bonehead

My NUMBER ONE pet peeve in racing and sports in general is the unforced error. hundreds of ways to lose that you cannot control, so you HAVE to take care of business with all the things you CAN control. This was a clusterf**K with monumental consequences. The only thing worse would be a...

    Stealing Intellectual Property

I guess it might depend on whether the engineer has a hard card. If they do, that might open them up to discipline from NASCAR.

    todays bonehead

No, I meant the team. The biggest irony of all this is that for long have people said Alex is the weak link and should be let go, and it turn out that the TEAM let HIM down, and one of the most critical points of the season. I know Alex will take the high road, but would NOT want to have that...

    todays bonehead

Hey, now that we know some FACTS, it's fair to nominate the 48 team for Bonehead of the YEAR! They screwed up, no excuses. All I was saying was let the process play out a little farther to see if there was some extenuating circumstances. Now that it has, bash away.

    Damaged Vehicle Policy Changes?

Your anger should be directed at the sanctioning body that tends to make up rules and procedures on the fly, not the recipient. It's not the 9's fault if NASCAR makes a wrong or inconsistent ruling that happens to benefit them.

    todays bonehead

Don't you think we should find out WHY before we start pointing fingers? The story already going around is that something came off the car when Alex jumped the curb early in the race. Now if true, that doesn't necessarily mean that the 48 team doesn't bear some responsibility for it departing...

    Cup RACE thread --- Roval

So the 0.5% is an overall allowance because if the car is light they top off the fuel and water and weigh again, it's not an allowance for lost fluids.

    Cup RACE thread --- Roval

That's not the way I took what Brad said. They fill the fuel before weighing, and he mentioned filling up the water, so why would they need an allowance for fluid loss?

    Cup RACE thread --- Roval

I will be REALLY interested in knowing where the car lost that much weight between pre and post race inspection. This isn't the 70's when things like this were common.

    Damaged Vehicle Policy Changes?

Two things would fix that. A more stringent minimum speed, and a rule that says if anything flies off your car after you back out, you get parked.

    Damaged Vehicle Policy Changes?

And there is the problem with the clock. I would MUCH prefer the teams be able take the car back to the garage and spend a couple extra minutes making good repair in a safe place instead of making a hasty repairs on a busy pit road.

    Damaged Vehicle Policy Changes?

It sounds to me like they are just going to have more stringent application of the rule that was beyond stupid in the first place. Tow every car car back to the pit, and they either beat the clock or they don't. I doesn't get more simple or fsir than than than that but NASCAR specializes in...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

And people wonder why us older folks rag on modern education so much. I have absolutely no idea what they teach in school nowadays, because every time I have a conversation with someone under 40, they don't seem to know much of anything about anything unless it's TV or a some computer game. I...

What changes could realistically be made to the Next Gen car to improve the racing at drafting tracks?

Go find Cale's 83' Hardees Monte Carlo, wind tunnel it and then build a modern car with the same drag and downforce numbers. Then ask Waddell how much horsepower Cale had, and restrict the engines to THAT number. There would still be some issues, but it would be a good start. :p

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Funny you should mention Chuck Yeager. Certainly a hero of mine and perhaps the most iconic pilot in history, but I was talking to a late 20's parts salesman that I have gotten to know fairly well the other day, and he had not the first clue who Chuck Yeager was. Sad, but true. I showed him one...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

The phrase doesn't mean any more to me than it does to you. In fact, when I see "icon", my first instinct is to run the opposite direction as fast as I can. That being said, it is foolish to underestimate the power and influence they wield out there in the rest of the world.
