23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

How many people can sell tens of millions of dollars worth of apparel with nothing but a silhouette of them going up for a layup? No name, no context, just picture.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Have you heard of Taylor Swift? If that woman shaved her eyebrows off, there would be 50 million girls and young women worldwide doing it before the day was over.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

It doesn't mean they can't upload a PDF file on NASCAR.com and let everyone read it for themselves. The old ARCA rulebooks were available to pretty much anyone who asked.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Well that aside, MJ is VERY BIG in the demographics that NASCAR, and more importantly many of the NASCAR sponsors want to be in with. It's like the Pitbull thing. I wouldn't recognize him if he walked into my office right now, and I couldn't name a single song of his, but he is big with people...

    Kenny Wallace

We can ALWAYS use more people who don't or no longer have any financial ties or contractual obligations to NASCAR. We have more than enough company line toers out there.

    Does it really matter?

As much as I like ALL of those people, they are not nor ever were a worldwide BRAND.

It says right on the announcement "available at the merch trailer or online...."

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I agree that MJ is in on a whole different level than the rest of the stars and pseudo stars that have dabbled in NASCAR before, and I think Michael LEAVING NASCAR would be a FAR bigger story than him actually being here.

    Legacy to Toyota

Legacy seems to be ridding themselves of all their JRM talent while bringing in HMS talent, which is sort of interesting in that they are often one and the same. 🤔

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

NASCAR folded up like a cheap suit in the Ferko lawsuit.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Not hayseeds, but perhaps silver spooners living on the laurels of what Bill Sr. and Bill Jr. actually built, and not really getting it. The old adage is that the third generation is usually the one that drives a family business into the ground. Jim France isn't third generation, but he's...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

And NASCAR never discouraged it either. They were all to happy to bask in the glow of people willing to invest that kind of money in the sport when it suited THEIR needs.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

They "gave" them to the original charter holders. Others have invested large sums of money for them, because NASCAR made it financially unattractive to compete otherwise. They took a leap of faith in NASCAR, and NASCAR has failed to reward that faith in them.

Bonehead of the Week: Talladega II

Classic example of how NASCAR takes something so simple and turns into a clusterf**k.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

It's not a question of not liking it, it's a question of where your thought process on the subject is. Now I know. You still have faith in people that I lost faith in LONG ago.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Good point, but I honestly think that most team owners felt that was only a temporary formality. NOW, NASCAR has dug in their heels on it.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Incompetence is incompetence. Most of the time not only do I feel like they have the wrong answer, I'm not sure they even know what the question is. The people administering the races are put there by the people running NASCAR. Ultimately the buck stops with people with the last names France and...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

So you would risk 40 million dollars on the good will of an organization that can't even manage their own stupid damaged vehicle policy?

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

MJ is a cultural icon. At this point it almost doesn't matter that he ever played basketball any more than it doesn't matter that James Dean only made like four movies. NASCAR doesn't NEED him, and he certainly doesn't need THEM, but after having him, losing him in this manner would be a PR...
