Hamlin tweets on how to fix the cars/attendance

Some "traditions" need to die and next year's running would wrap up a quarter century of something that has run it's course.

Let's run the 25th Anniversary of the Brickyard 400 next year and be done with it.

Hamlin tweets on how to fix the cars/attendance

I don't know if the independent tracks (Pocono and Dover) can survive on one race alone. I also hate losing the Dover spring race even though attendance has been iffy. I love the Monster Mile.

Hamlin tweets on how to fix the cars/attendance

The crux of the battle for the future of NASCAR: what the networks want (a tighter, 2.5 hour broadcast window with plenty of calculated commercial time (post-stage yellows)) and what the fans who actually travel and buy tickets to races want (an event worth traveling hundreds of miles to to...

Hamlin tweets on how to fix the cars/attendance

Re-frame the question to Denny: if races are shortened 30-40%, you'd be willing to take a similar cut in your multi-million dollar contract for your driving services? Didn't think so.

Coke 600 Will Feature 4 Segments

I would love to see Jimmie Spencer back on the air. He told the truth and the truth hurts.

Coke 600 Will Feature 4 Segments

    I was thinking more of 10 40-lap segments. ;)

Coke 600 Will Feature 4 Segments

More moments...for commercials and yellow flag laps. Just when you think the powers that be have stopped making changes, er enhancements, there they go again.

Coke 600 Will Feature 4 Segments

“You look at the way Charlotte was laid out and the length of the race, it was just sort of a natural to add another one to break it up a little further and make a few more moments,” Miller told NASCAR.com. Why not 5 or 7 segments every race? This is getting ridiculous and this past weekend's...

Roger Penske: The next major step is cost reduction in NASCAR

I always thought the season should end by mid-October at the latest. The schedule won't be reduced until the TV contract is over (2024?) but I think downsizing 4-6 races is what will be necessary. Some tracks will lose their second dates. I hope Dover and Pocono are prepping for that as they...

    Team Sponsor Shortages

The ROI in a NASCAR race team is probably the worst of any major sport. The current owners of NASCAR race teams clearly got in for the genuine love of the sport.

I have three MLB teams within a 90 minute drive and don't go anymore....too expensive for tickets and parking. I enjoy minor league games like the Trenton Thunder (Yankees AA affiliate), where I can see future major leaguers (like Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge) play and get a GREAT seat for $11.

17,500 MPH would set the pole pretty much everywhere! Too bad that looks like the Enterprise, which was only used for flight testing and landing sims in Earth's atmosphere and not built to fly in orbit.

I agree to a certain extent but you cannot blame the drivers for getting what they can get in the contract. All professional athletes are overpaid, especially MLB, NBA and elite NFL players but the free market dictates their contracts. They are entertainers more than they are athletes these...

Roger Penske: The next major step is cost reduction in NASCAR

That's one way to do it. Let's hope it doesn't come to that but maybe the sport will be better off out of the grip of the France family and these over-bloated TV contracts from the networks that are dictating all the changes recently for the presumed benefit of the TV audience but to the...
