I can't remember what was going on with me that weekend but I just don't remember the decline in ratings being talked about. All I remember about that race in the long term was that Kyle dominated. I think I was dealing with some personal issues with my father's health at the time in fairness...

That's your best gem yet. Why would they like a fan like me who truly cares about the sport and has been watching it almost their entire life and investing money endlessly in it? I watch EVERY race, have been to 30+/- races across the top 3 series and also bUy gear and video games and so on...

If they were competing with the NFL this time of year I'd think it would be different but hey at least NASCAR is still beating the UFL......For now. LOL

If you say so. I guess that lack of concern is the same attitude NASCAR has and that's working out really well right now.

That's fair. I actually did not pay for the hotel room. My Nephew who went with us travels constantly for his job and had points he was able to use for the room so he covered that and we covered he and his wife's tickets. The interesting thing was that when we checked in the hotel told him...

I guess I did not realize the level of genius I am communicating with since you don't read but still point out where I misquote numbers. The only thing I misquoted was the rating/viewership and I owed that I just misread it. The point still stands though that it was way down from last year...

Because the figures from last year were a 2.1 rating with 3.8 million viewers. That is pretty concerning to me that about ONE MILLION people who watched last year decided not to tune in this year.

I'd have to go back and watch that race to be sure why it's not remembered as a terrible race but for those trying to defend the product on Sunday by pulling ONE unmemorable race out of the pile seems fishy to me. Even in NASCAR's heyday there were duds - there is in every sport. That's part...

People may have made the same mistake as me and read the rating of 1.1 thinking that was the viewership. i just double checked my source and it was a little over 2M so that's my bad. Still really low though and a sharp ratings decline.

LOL. That's the problem though Stan. I am not "moaning" or "crying." Just pointing some stuff out. I also don't think my "nonsense" is going anywhere. LMAO. Do you think I am trying to be an influencer or something? I'm not close to being that delusional but in this case the majority...

A few closing thoughts on this one for me guys since the conversation continues to be about some thinking the race was not that bad and "2200" passes keeps getting thrown out there and comparisons made to other Bristol races that had fewer. You just CAN'T use passes of lapped cars as a metric...

In total fairness though, Bristol was fantastic when they first reconfigured it. I remember an Xfinity race there where there was a 3-wide finish for the win. It has not aged well. The best news I could hear is that they are tearing it up and putting it back the way it was prior. I know some...

Any theories on why though? What was so different? Small enough that aero was not a factor at all? That's my best guess.

To each their own but the majority says otherwise.

I am not sure I follow you 100% but I am not trying to tie anything back to Larson's fans other than to say it seems to me that most people who found anything to enjoy about the race are people who outright state they root for Larson or have shown him support and get excited when he does well...

Well the difference with me is that I'd be saying the same thing regardless of who won and believe me when I say I don't want to feel the way I do. It's clear to me that the majority (not all of course) of those defending this race are Larson fans or strong supporters of his even if they claim...

Yeah I hear you. My feelings are more about perspective over the long haul and what it once was compared to what it is now. I was siting there at Bristol looking at the stands imagining what it was like in the good old days when the place was packed and feeling like it's dying. You are...

It sucks seeing the sport you love basically dying. It's hard for me to relate to people who can't see past what they want.

I'm old school and I miss the longer races but in fairness it was just a different sport back then and the longer races were fitting. Back then you had tire fall off which led to more pit stops and strategy and usually a lot of cars fell out of contention because of mechanical failures...
