NASCAR 2019 - Bold Prediction Thread

I have one more chance (Talledega) of McDowell winning a Cup race this year.

Nascar can't go a week without making fools out of themselfs

I seem to remember a couple fans killed by lightning at Dover several years ago. It was a gamble pitting at the 1 to go mark -- there was always the chance they would have to go back yellow -- debris falling from one of the partially wrecked cars, power failure, etc. I think they (Nascar) uses a...

Has Kevin Harvick (at age 43) Lost A Step?

To me, a great closer is a driver that wins races like Chastain has in the past few weeks (Trucks on old tires, Xfinity at Daytona.) Now I'm not saying Chastain is a great closer, since there's not enough time and data yet, but a driver that can do win like that for a few years would be a...

    Xfinity RACE thread --- Daytona

Hey, anyone looking in the mirror and seeing those beady eyes would move over and let him by!

    Xfinity RACE thread --- Daytona

So lets see .... Chastain goes up to his car owner and sponsors and says "I'm not going to block in this race!" Would that be a good career move?

Rate The Xfinity Race: Daytona 2

    9. Rarely do you see a driver stay up or near the front for a whole race in a plate race. Chastain seemed to know what the best line to take was almost every time (probably his spotter should get a bunch of credit.)

    9. Didn't think Bowman re-take the lead from Larson.

    Good idea

That's why I say, log the stage points but don't stop the race. Positions would remain as they are. Probably need "stage white" and "stage win" flags.

    Good idea

Better idea.... keep the stages but don't stop the race -- just log the stage points. 'Course the networks won't like it, but they'l get their adds shown one way or the other.

Tiny raced a lot at the Old and New Jacksonville Speedways. He was the master of the "slide job."

Enjoyed the Kelly Earnhardt episode. Good interaction between Jr. and Kelly and interesting stories of their early years.

Ross Chastain is a Future Star

I like that he is passive/aggressive. He can "nurse" a car with inferior equipment and get a decent finish, but also can drive aggressively in the front with good equipment. Seems to be able to recover out of shape (like Ky. Busch.) His Darlington Xfinity run last year, up until his tangle...

ARCA Day to Day Coffee 150 @ Gateway

Looked a little dangerous when the pit crew was pushing the car down pit road with cars under power behind them -- and the possibility of a car(s) leaving the pits.

No Chute, No Brakes, Fractured Back

Looks like he steered to the center of the net. I actually think that system stopped him pretty well. Hitting on an angle though would have been bad (twisting impact) though if he came in at an angle, there is a good chance of flipping. Very lucky!

Name something you LIKE about today’s NASCAR racing

Exactly! I reminds me of our local short track. 50 lap race and 15 (counted) laps spent re-aligning the field -- common occurrence. Or long intermissions to sell food and beer, then cutting the feature short for the curfew.

The Isle of Man TT should be stopped... Now & Forever

Here's a way to find out if the Isle of Man TT could survive public opinion. Televise it like the Indy 500 for a few years. If the death tole stays the same as now, I guarantee there would be changes or shut down entirely.

Rate the Xfinity race --- Iowa

6 Yes, when I was a bit younger, I understood commercials supported free tv. Now I get to pay for the commercials. Nothing like "pay for view" commercials.

    Truck RACE thread --- Iowa

I guess a team could build a truck that would "settle" under racing conditions on a rough track (like Iowa.) If that's the case, I hope Nascar would say it, instead of "too low." Not sure why there's a "too low" rule anyway (dangerous?)
