    Cup RACE thread --- M'ville

Instead of explaining for the umpteenth time as to how to properly mount these morphydite wheel systems, go back to five lugs and be done with it. Sheesh....

I Just Lost All Respect for Taylor Gray

Why was it okay for Gray to muscle Smith, but not the other way around? I mean on the track.

    Johali's Rate the Xfinity race --- M'ville

Seriously? Seems to me that your designated driver would have been the biggest catalyst of what happened.

    Johali's Rate the Xfinity race --- M'ville

9.5... only thing keeping it from being a 9.9 is that my driver did not win. Love bull ring racing to a certain extent. This was a little more than I wanted, especially during the bulk of the race, but the ending was superb! No such thing as a participation trophy for finishing second on a...

    Cup vs Xfinity vs Trucks

They do make 18" five lug wheels, so do not see why not. Unfortunately, the 18" wheels require a tire with a very small height in the cross section so it still will not get the car off the ground. Losing wheels is just one negative of the current system, the other is making the vehicle immobile...

    Cup vs Xfinity vs Trucks

Have a technical update. The 18" alloy wheels have the same inside diameter as the 16" steel wheels (within .100") due the thickness of the alloy wheels being 22mm or almost an inch thick.

    Xfinity RACE thread --- Homestead

Ran the restart multiple times, it appears that Larson was playing games too. He blipped the throttle just as the front of his car crossed into the starting zone, then held back a bit (at that point Mayer bumped him). So, it was not all on Mayer.

    Cup vs Xfinity vs Trucks

The 18" tires, again, different compounds (due to weight of course, or because they have to run entire races with them) are used in Europe, Australia, South America, etc on sports car circuits. If I am not mistaken, SCCA uses them also. 16" tires are also used in other series, again, the sporty...

    Xfinity RACE thread --- Homestead

Was pulling for Mayer, first time he restarts inside, guess he did not expect the traction difference from the outside. Did not want Larson to win, too dominant, as good as he is, that was not all driver. Hence my reason for not wanting him to win. The force of the Hendrick might was turned...

True, but other than the compound, the 18's are used in other series.

    Cup vs Xfinity vs Trucks

You are probably correct, but there is precedence for revision of specific mechanical missteps, like the wheel/tire combo. Nascar has in the past corrected aspects that were already paid for. Would not worry about development funds, the 16" five lug was also in the development and did not bring...

    Cup vs Xfinity vs Trucks

1" clearance between inner rim and furthest extent of the caliper when using a 16" wheel. Twice the recommended distance that the brake manufacture states. Still allows for flex and circulation. Keep in mind, during development of the spec they experimented with five lug, 16" wheels and did not...
