I don't really blame him for not testing free agency in this sport. It gets crazy and taking the sure thing removes a lot of risk/stress.

I guess locking him down for 2024 gives them a year and a half to figure out if he replaces either driver or if they start up a 3rd team. All 3 possibilities are probably on the table.
