    Chevrolet next year?

The Petty/STP scheme is more than twice that old, and people are still rockin it. Axalta carried over a modified version of the Dupont Fire and Flames scheme, so it neither comes from a company that doesn't exist anymore nor is it 25 years old. Just a stray question, if you walk into a paint...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

As others have said, I don't believe these arguments exist for ANY other reason than to show in court that NASCAR has a monopoly and to get a more favorable deal from them. Winning a court case is FAR different than real world reality, something even I have remind myself of from time to time...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I know you know this, but SERIOUS racers are always perusing what Donohue called the "Unfair Advantage". The thrill of winning what cannot just be outright bought is just too much of an aphrodisiac. Always remember 1994. Roger Penske spent tens of millions of dollars to win ONE race, a race...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Well, his involvement with basketball teams since he left the Bulls has been less than stellar, to say the least.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Michael MAY have had assurances from his key partners that they would be willing to work with him on this that others may not have had. There is also the fact that Michael has less to lose than many others. He hasn't spent 30-50 years or more building his program, his driver lineup would be no...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

If NASCAR was smart, they would have never gone down this road in the first place.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

THIS RIGHT HERE is why I think a lot of owners were reluctant to join the lawsuit. By putting their own charters at risk, they could very likely be in breach of their driver, sponsor, and probably manufacturer contracts, and possibly even some other contracted employees. That's a LOT of...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Don't believe me if you don't want to, what do I care? I'm just telling you that Richard Childress went as far as he DARED to criticize the deal, and Rick Hendrick's words were basically resignation that they weren't going to get a better off, not that they liked the offer they got. Some of you...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

For most of the owners, this was NEVER about securing enough extra money to survive, this is about getting the cut they feel they are entitled to, right or wrong. Rick could support his race team for the rest of his life if NASCAR didn't pitch in one cent. So could Penske and Jordan and several...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Because if there was ANYTHING remotely positive about it, Rick would have been the guy out trying to sell it. He's one of the kings of making chicken salad out of chicken ****, he's a car salesman, it's what he DOES. Except in this case, he hasn't even tried, and the "I was just tired" is about...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I think you are massively underestimating Hendrick's comments. This guy is the king of positive spin. I've been following his moves for 41 years now. For Rick to say what he said is as close to "FU NASCAR" as he is ever going to come.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I can't speak for any teams beyond them, but the limited responses that Rick Hendrick and Richard Childress gave made it crystal clear to ME that they were NOT happy with NASCAR at all, and felt absolutely coerced into signing. Those are two guys who normally never miss a chance to extoll the...

Everything has a back story. If you REALLY want to understand the Constitution, you must read the Federalist Papers.

    Silly Season 2025

I pretty much agree with this assessment. I don't WANT Kaulig to be a fraud, but at this point they kind of ARE. That trophy hunting rhetoric just doesn't cut it with me when you are hiring drivers like Dillon. I could MAYBE see Dillon if you really have to kiss a little ass over at RCR, but...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Possible, but I would sooner believe payment due upon sale approval. Either way, I seriously doubt Gene is funding his race team with money for a sale that so far hasn't, and may NEVER happen.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

So you think that Michael Jordan and company just wrote Gene a check and let him cash it with no guarantee that they would ever get anything of value in return? Seems unlikely to me.
  17. Formerjackman

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Correct, but you make it sound like NASCAR made some kind of sacrifice in the charter deal, and they didn't, in fact it gave them power they didn't even HAVE before the deal.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Th That would be like buying a car and not getting the title. Only a complete fool would pay before they have a valid charter in hand. Also remember that NASCAR basically has a gag order on the teams that signed the new deal. Haas may not want to antagonize NASCAR on this.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Let's be perfectly honest about the "free" thing. NASCAR didn't give up diddly squat. All the charters did was guarantee WHO was going to get the money NASCAR was paying out already.

But Haas had no way of knowing the buyers weren't going to sign the contract when SHR made the deal.
