The initial target was for the car to be 85-100 pounds lighter, sounds like that’s well on track:

    F1 2026 News/Misc.

In the big year 2026, it appears the FIA have finally realized they’re too beholden to the interests of the OEMs and are looking to pivot significantly in the next regulation cycle...

    IMSA 2026

The part that still kills me about WEC is that the series calendar is bookended by Middle Eastern venues that nobody likes nor cares to attend. Obviously Qatar Airways helps with some of the logistics necessary to run 8 races, but a quarter of the calendar being propped up by a pair of races...

Legacy MC will provide some engineering and pit crew talent to McLaren on RHR’s entry at the 500. Wouldn’t be surprised to see JJ expand the team further into INDYCAR later down the road. https://racer.com/2026/04/26/arrow-mclaren-legacy-motor-club-join-indy-500-forces-on-hunter-reay-entry

    Jim France stepping down.

I respect and appreciate all of Jim’s efforts on the sports car side of things, but I never got the impression he wanted to be entrusted with heading up everything NASCAR. He never seemed particularly engaged with the sport beyond trying to protect the family’s fortune through the charter...

    2026 IndyCar News / Misc.

Toyota coming back would be huge but I don’t think it increases the appetite for more cars outside of Indy. The cap of 27 is mostly imposed by safety concerns and pit lane/paddock capacity. Where it would help the most would probably be getting north of 33 entries at the 500 and reintroducing...

I don’t think anybody is gonna be able to match this celebration anytime soon. Wow!

    2026 IndyCar News / Misc.

There was pretty much no way anybody was going to be able to compete unchartered come 2028 when the Honda and Chevy factory entries bring the number of chartered teams up to the maximum grid capacity of 27. This is just getting there a year earlier, and there really wasn’t any chance of anyone...

The problem with the current arrangement - if you call it a problem, I think you can to an extent - is that it tried too hard to appease everybody. Of course, this was affected in large part by how LMH and ‘DPi 2.0’ (as LMDh was called in the initial working group) began as two completely...

Magic might **** around and do something special after being mediocre all season long. Hell of a win in Game 3 after blowing a 15-point lead late against Detroit.

    IMSA 2026

We’ve seen Porsche and now Honda bail out of either championship after unsuccessfully gambling on EVs, and motorsports programs are usually first in line to be cut to try to make up for losses. Ford aren’t immune to that reality. Like I said, I do lean towards them coming, but if it were a sure...

I tend to agree, but I hate to make assumptions while it’s just plausible enough they don’t come for a number of reasons - economics, if 2030 reg set ends up substantially different, and so on.

    IMSA 2026

Ford and McLaren aren’t committed to GTP, not yet at least. All we know for certain is they’ll join WEC in 2027 and that IMSA programs for each are under evaluation for 2028. Genesis are now trending towards not joining IMSA until mid-2027 (Watkins Glen or later) as well. We better hope nobody...

No idea what Eng was doing against Heinrich in the JDC car, some of the worst defending you’ll ever see. The dive by Van Der Linden on the Aston I think was just good opportunistic driving. Gotta get your elbows out to get passes done here. But yeah, overall hardly a clean race by the BMW pair.

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

This is what stood out to me more than any perceived HP advantage. Look at how he ripped around the outside of Denny coming to the white flag and then drove it in deep and made it stick on the inside of Larson into both corners on the final lap. Just unreal cornering speed and commitment between...
