0 Ride Height ---The X Factor

I hear ya buddy, but maybe the question has yet to be asked. The closest we have is DW's "coil under". Chad was pretty forthcoming about the effect of the set up. Somebody has to have an idea about what Penske is doing.

I saw Chad talking to Samantha before the race, its easy to understand why he wasnt able to function properly for the rest of the night

I hope he wasn't discussing his coil under.

Brad had tire issues at Richmond from camber but the 22 didnt, or not as bad at least

Not so sure it was camber, because they solved the problem. I doubt they made a camber adjustment. Harvick is a mystery, because he's fast most weeks and the other 2 SHR drivers aren't. :D

Brads tires were good for 50 laps all night, I dont remember it getting any better. SHR must not share info on setups or the cars fit Harvicks style better

I recall TV showing the first set torn up and comparing it to later sets, which were OK. :idunno:

True. The 2 was better on the short run. Not sure it was camber though, for the reasons I stated.

They certainly didnt change the camber mid race, a little wedge and air pressure change maybe. They never really fixed it though, they just managed it, and of course the tires wore less after the track rubbered up anyway. They got the short run at the end anyway

Pete Pistone from MRN did a column on Kyle Busch in which Kyle says that the big issue this year is the 0 Ride Height Rule. This is freakin' proof that he is on this board and reading my thread. :D

All the drivers read your stuff Rev

Three right front issues for the Hendrick boys in the All Star race. Hmmm......

Not a good sign for the 600..

Tough poop for them. Welcome to my hell....which is getting cooler....my TRD Toyotas had a little speed. Things looking up. Your guys had crappy luck. They will be fine. Gonna be fun next weekend. Greatest racing weekend ever! Can't wait. My picks....Hamilton F1, JPM IndyCar, and Mr. Kyle Freakin' Busch for the 600! Hurry up week....let's get ya done!!!!

They were probably using the All-Star race as a test session to see how far they can push the setups.

I get the feeling from the track time to date at Charlotte that the field might be leveling in terms of speed. Interesting that Harvick said that he was shooting for a 27 flat on his quali lap, but couldn't hold it. Wondering if 27 dead is possible Thursday. Gonna be fun.

FWIW Chad Knaus on NASCAR Radio said that the new set ups create a tight condition favoring Jr., Harvick, and Gordon. Looser set ups favor Jimmie, Kyle, and Matt.

Chad just has his mind somewhere else that is tight as well ;)

So I refuse to let the most under appreciated thread die...LOL....Slugger Labbe said on NASCAR Radio that teams fight a fine entry, tight center, and loose off after aggressive adjustments to fix center. He talked like it is a constant batter between fixing the center and screwing the exit. Interesting...

A little less power might make the exit problems easier. We get to find out next year right ?

Well the #48 car was in a totally different zip code in the center of the turn at Charlotte so now that NASCAR has freed them, watch out for them on the cookie cutters.

You nailed it. I was thinking this at the same time you posted it man. Cool. Kyle's NNS success would suggest that this would help huge. He is not a throttle on/off guy as you know. I would like to see the reduction to the 5 liter rather than the tapered spacer, but I am wondering if it is getting a little late for this--unless the manufacturers already know and it hasn't been announced. This would be TRD's first re-design since they entered. I would like a clean slate.

Thought it was interesting that the 48 took a step at the same time the JGR guys found a little speed. Just fascinating to me how these teams gain ground. Absolutely fabulous. Ratcliff says that the JGR cars have speed--it's just that the margin is narrow. Absolutely can't miss on the set up.

I have seen the cup cars smoking the rear tires coming out of turn 4 at Phoenix, thats a lot of useless power in my book. Reduced power will affect some drivers a lot more than others, I expect that Kyle will be happy

Kyle wants to keep it wound up. That extra horsepower plays into the hands of the on/off throttle boys. I am hoping for the 5 liter new motor rather than the tapered spacer. Time for a redesign.

Kenseth on NASCAR Radio hesitated when asked about the impact of the 0 Ride Height. He said that the aero is a significant player in this era of set ups--I think sometimes the Ride Height deal overshadows the spoiler/splitter changes. Another variable in the mix to invite teams to stray. Great stuff.

Well I guess if you are made out of money an all new motor might make sense. Probably restrict the intake side if they do anything. Slower speeds will make them easier to drive. Some drivers will like it, some won't. Same goes for any mod they make.

Everybody came through the development of the Gen 6 just fine, and they will be able to do the same with the motor. For selfish reasons, I would love to see the 5 liter. This would be TRD's first redesign--unless you count the multiple times NASCAR jacked them around in initial development. They have probably learned a few things in 7 years.

Chad Knaus revealed that Hendrick is producing a whole new version of the Gen 6 to support the 0 Ride Height changes. Uh, I think it works. Fascinating. I wish I knew what kinds of things they can do during the build to support what Jimmie is looking for. I would assume that they have found a way to build a car which brings back the loose.

Got a little love from Larry Mac on the 0 Ride Height in pre-race on the Toyota Camry Test Car. Forgot about the squared off splitter, the radiator pan, and the spoiler. Man, that has thrown the sport into a tizzy!

Frankie Kerr on Claire B. Lang's show indicated that the 2015 rules will shift cars to extremely loose, and reward drivers with great car control.

Aka reward drivers with master crew chiefs. *cough... JJ ... cough*

The blades from your black helicopters are messing up my hair. LOL. :D So interesting to me (not so much to the drama filled broadcasts) that a group of set ups could benefit an exclusive group of drivers and mess up many others. Love this sport.

In what world is "extremely loose" and "great car control" related
