2012 Chase for the Cup - (Game) - Chicago - Race 1 of 10

We are currently @ 25 players and counting. Great turnout this year. We could always use more.

Quick note for all of you that have already made picks. Keep in mind you can change them anytime before the deadline mentioned in the first post of this thread. If you do I only ask that you make a new post with the change. DO NOT EDIT/UPDATE YOUR ORIGINAL POST. Picks recorded through the 39th post of this thread.

Let me make sure I've got this straight. We have until 12:59 pm Sunday, September 16, 2012 to make picks for this weeks race?

Yes, it works just like last year. You can wait and make picks or you can make picks now and change them any time up until then.
 
The time of 1:00pm this week is because that is when the scheduled ESPN broadcast begins. That can vary from week to week but basically you have up until that time each week.

I am trying to give everyone every opportunity to make picks for a given week. I'm opening the thread on Mondays and closing it on race day.

If you think that it is to your advantage to wait until you've seen qualifying, no big deal. You can always make picks early and then change them after you've see where everyone has qualified. I'm flexible, (not literally though).
 
I've received a couple PM's with questions about how the scoring works. I just wanted to make sure that there's no confusion as it's pretty simple really. I'll use the results from last weeks race at Richmond as an example of how the scoring works. Below is an example of points that you would have earned had you picked the Chase driver in the Best or Worst positions. 'Best points' are simply the points earned by the Chase driver's finishing position for the given race. 'Worst points' are calculated by subtracting the points earned for the race from the race winners points, usually 47 or so. This past week the winner just happened to be a Chase driver. It could have been anyone. Worst points are always the difference between the winning driver and the actual points earned by the Chase driver.

Using the above example the best picks would have been 70 pts for.....

Best: Clint Bowyer
Worst: Martin Truex Jr.

Is this now clear as mud?

You mean players are taking more than 10 seconds to pick drivers in the Fantasy game?

Thanks to all that have joined. We are at 28 players at this point. This should be a good Chase for the Cup here on racing-forums.com. Good luck to all of you. You'll need it. ;)
 
It would have to be modified due to start and parkers.
 
Both TRL and Spike already have season long games that are fun to play. There's also the Yahoo Fantasy racing-fourms.com group. While I think this game could be easily adapted to play a year long run using only the top 10 in points each week, the whole reason I started it was for the newer board members to join in with the veterans of this board. We always seem to get new members throughout the season that aren't able to get in on either of the other three games and if you're not in from the get go, you don't have much of a chance to do well. Personally I like keeping it @ the last 10. It's short and seems to retain interest.
 
Couple PM's asking about a tie at the end of the season and what is the tie breaker?

*** In the unlikely event of a tie after Homestead the winner will be chosen by the number of first place finishes in the group during the Chase. Not driver first place finishes. First place finishes are based on your score total for each race. If there's still a tie then the second tiebreaker will be the time in which the player locks in his/her Homestead picks. The time stamped at the bottom of the post. ***

Again, if you are changing your picks enter both your new Best/Worse as a new post in this thread. All of the picks have already been recorded above this post.
