2013 Mid-Season Review

Read his side as I have, there are two sides to every story, facts are facts but there are extenuating circumstances to this story.

Most likely you are correct, I only posted to show others what has been referred to as it was reported by the newspaper. I personally think there were some wrong doings and they figured out the best way to handle it.

An article in the Charlotte Observer dated 2-27-2001 by Peter Wallsten reported on Rick Hendrick, a Charlotte car dealer, who had pleaded guilty in a bribery case and was later pardoned by Clinton and the possible connection to a donation made to the Clinton Library by Hendrick. In his pardon application, Hendrick reportedly included a reference from his longtime friend and Bank of America CEO, Hugh McCall Jr., also a political ally of Clinton. Hendrick's pardon was issued on December 22, less than 3 weeks after the Bank of America Foundation made a $1,000,000 donation to the Clinton Library.

Yes, that's not bribery. Bribery is a specific crime where an explicit deal. Bribing a federal official is a felony. Both Hendrick and Clinton would go to prison. Bribing the President of United States would a major scandal.

Hendrick used his buddy who was a big Clinton donor to get a pardon. Is it sleazy? Yes. Is it illegal? No. Is it bribery? No.

Try calling a doctor or chiropractor a "scam", "fraud" or "quack" in a public venue and see what happens. Words like "fraud" and "bribe" have specific meaning under the law. Words have meaning, don't just sling whatever crap you want. I work in an industry that's very susceptible to libel and slander charges, and we actually had a cease and desist from a Fortune 500 company once threatening a libel suit.

Believe me, that first post you made about Hendrick was enough for him to sue your ass and take your house. I'm not even joking. You have absolutely no proof that he "bribed" Clinton (as defined by federal law) or that he lied to get out of a prison term.

Not to stir the pot here BUT,
• Rick Hendrick was sentenced in 1997 for his role in the bribery and kickback scandal at American Honda Motor Co. He pleaded guilty to mail fraud for sending $20,000 to a Honda executive and was sentenced to 12 months confinement to his home in Charlotte and placed on probation for three years. He also was fined $250,000 and ordered not to have anything to do with his auto dealership empire or his NASCAR racing operations during the home detention. President Bill Clinton pardoned him in 2000.

This was in the Charlotte Observer. The article was about the lawyer that defended him. He recently passed away.

I wasn't even saying that didn't happen. Everybody knows Hendrick got in trouble back in the day. Just his (Sidewayz) tone with his allegations touched a nerve inside me and caused some stuff to bubble up. I obviously have some issues with some stuff that was said here by one person about Dick Trickle's passing and it was never resolved. I apologize to Sidewayz and everybody trying to enjoy this thread. It obviously wasn't the venue for my tirade.

No worries , its all good by me. You can rest assured that I have no issue with you or this issue, I am not a fan of HMS. I do like JR. but that is as far as it goes. :)

Wow, you're tweaking because a NASCAR owner committed a crime? Hello! NASCAR was created on a crime. Hypocrites.

Anyway back to the ORIGINAL purpose of this thread.

Best Race: Fontana
Worst: Daytona 500
Surprise: Kurt Busch being competitive for wins every week
Disappointment: Gen 6 car plate racing
Oddest moment: 1st Daytona Nationwide finish
Personal Favorite: Watching my stepfather's disappointment everytime Danica finishes outside of the top 30

Best race: Fontana
Worst race: Pocono
Most surprising driver: Kurt Busch and the whole FRR team having so much speed every week
Most disappointing driver: Brad Keselowski
Oddest moment: The camera cable breaking during the 600 with fans throwing soda bottles at cars trying to get a caution called.
Personal favorite moment: Davids beat the Goliaths; Front Row Motorsports going 1-2 at Talladega.

Best race: Fontana with Bristol a close second.
Worst race: Pocono with the Daytona 500 a close second.
Most surprising driver: Joey Logano
Most disappointing driver: Denny Hamlin

My picks so far this year:
Best Race: California (to state the obvious, that was very surprising).
Worst Race: The single-file Daytona 500 (though I might be saying Pocono if I didn't spend the first half of that race watching the much better Iowa NW race instead). Talladega and the second Daytona race were much better.
Most Surprising Driver: Matt Kenseth
Most Disappointing Driver: Denny Hamlin
Oddest Moment: Someone hula-boxing at Charlotte (this is also the funniest moment).
Personal Favorite Moment: Jeff passing dominant Kyle for the lead at Texas around the middle of the race (I was there cheering him on - it was the first non-pit stop lead change all race). Unfortunately, the end of that race turned sour when something broke in Jeff's car.

Lying about a medical condition to avoid a prison term and bribing the President of the United States are serious crimes. I don't suppose you have any proof of these claims?

IMO, if you don't know how Rick Hendrick, arguably the most successful owner in the history of NASCAR, was involved in the Honda bribery scandal and how he avoided going to prison, you're a few bricks short of a full load when it comes to being a fan of NASCAR.

If you can find it, this book makes for interesting reading:

Arrogance and Accords: The Inside Story of the Honda Scandal by Steve Lynch

Nothing personal, but I don't believe you.

Oh no.... somebody has sand in their ******.

We've moved on from that conversation, pjmolo.

Sorry, but I'm not on the board every day.

Just responding to relatively recent posts that I've read.

And you're right, that sand can be a bitch sometimes . . .
