2014 Silly Season Thread

Alright, here are my final Silly Season predictions(there are some long term ones here as well)...
1. Biffle and 3M go to RPM and take over the #9
2. Carl Edwards and Fastenal go to the #12 Penske car
3. Marcos Ambrose takes Stanely Black and Decker with him to a third MWR team
4. Chip Ganassi signs away both Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney, who will take over the #1 and #8 on a part time basis with the intent of going it big in 2015 and 2016. They switch to Toyota/TRD in 2016,
5. HScott gets folded back into the Turner Scott Motorsports brand and starts to emulate Ganassi by slowly expanding first with Kwasniewski and then after 2 or 3 years in N'Wide, Ben Rhodes. They switch back to Toyota.
6. Justin Allgaier takes over the #78 during this time.
7. RFR stays at 2 cars while Chris Buescher is groomed and gets some starts in the #21.
8. RCR does the same with the younger Dillon.
9. Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray buy into Front Row Motorsports and take over the #34 and #38 starting in 2016 and form an alliance with RCR and Penske.
10. Martin Truex, Jr. goes back to the #56.

#10?

I dont think much of it is that far fetched at all. Might not happen but none of it is far fetched, even the Chase Elliott thing.

Many of this extremely far fetched.....especially Hendrick letting Chase touch anything other than an Hendrick car.
Why would truex go back to MWR? Where does the newman/mcmurray thing come from? Why would biffle leave to RPM over RFR? So many?????

Biffle to RPM is about the most logical thing out there. He fits there better than he does with MWR and Ambrose would slide nicely into MWR. Newman and McMurray can attract sponsors and buy into a small team ala Tony Stewart and Haas/CNC(do you not remember that organization before Stewart became part owner)? There were no bridges burned at MWR with Truex, just the entire fiasco left them without sponsorship for the #56. If Waltrip can secure sponsorship, which he is innately good at somehow, I have no doubts Truex would go back.

Like I said, they might not happen, but they are not far fetched.

Why would Biffle fit better at RPM than at MWR? There is no 3rd team yet at MWR but Ambrose would slide in nicely? Why him and not Biffle?

How would Ambrose take Stanley& Black&Decker with him when he wasn't the one who brought them to RPM?

Why would Newman or Mcmurray be interested in buying into FrontRow?

If Newman could attract sponsorship he'd still be at SHR, and Mcmurray essentially lost the Bass Pro Shops sponsorship too. Not convinced either can attract much interest.

Why would Truex go back to an organization that burned him and left him high and dry?

Why would RCR(Chevy) Penske(Ford) have an alliance with FrontRow?

How in the heck could Gannasi sign Chase and Blaney away when both are already signed on with stronger organizations with a clear path to Cup for both?

To say these "predictions" aren't far fetched is absurd. These are borderline ridiculous, I'm sorry but that's how I see it. Edwards to Penske is realistic as is RFR staying with just 2 cars, the rest are just wild speculation on your part.

Amen brother! I don't have time to say all that while im at work , but you nailed it!!!

-Theres no real clear path to cup for Blaney or Elliott. If Edwards goes to Penske, that blocks him. Despite the rumors about Gordon, there is no for sure ride at Hendrick for Elliott. And Ganassi has $$.
-Ambrose has already raced for MWR when JTG/Daugherty was essentially another MWR team. And despite kind of landing in the SB&D sponsorship, both parties seem to click.
-MWR didn't burn Truex, the fiasco with Bowyer and NAPA leaving did. If MWR could find funding for the #56, I believe Truex would go back.
-Newman took two sponsor with him(Quicken and WIX). Jamie McMurray has had no issues finding quality sponsorship. He lost Bass Pro to Tony Stewart and the Dillon brothers, it happens. Newman has already been an owner in IndyCar, and was part of the Stewart/Hass startup, which was essentially a start from scratch with an already established base, and Haas pre-Stewart and Front Row were not all that dissimilar.

Newman never owned in indy car.....Paul Newman the actor owned Newman/Haas racing.

Sure Ganassi has money, but Penske and Hendrick have lots more. Both organizations have put a premium on developing both those guys, so I don't see them slipping away, certainly not to a middling team like Ganassi.

With Ambrose being at JTG, I suppose I can see your MWR angle a little bit. However to say he could take his sponsors wherever because they just click is a huge leap. A lot of drivers "click" with their sponsors, because they know how important those dollars are, it's something entirely different to take a sponsor away from an organization though.

Ryan Newman had nothing to do with NewmanHaas or F1, that was Paul Newman. Even a quick google search would have told you that. It wasn't even a startup when Newman and Stewart came on board, it was just Tony buying into Haas' pre existing team. Newman did take 2 sponsors with him but they aren't major, in fact between the 2 they sponsor like 5 races or something.

You can you say MWR didn't burn Truex but at the end of the day he lost his fully funded ride because of the actions of MWR.

They were probably going to lose NAPA anyway, that just gave them the early out they wanted.

All I hear is a bunch of probably's.....I can make stuff up to...because it's not too far fetched.

you can catch lotsa fish.....if ya use good bait !

#4 please.
Im going #4 please also....TUDOR sports car series Ganassi uses Ford power, I think it's time he does that in Nascar. Only after he signs Chase with Chad Knaus too. Hell Jimmie too since were in pretend land. :)

Is there any more developments/talk in RPM's potential manufacturer switch?

Seems like they've been looking to make a change for a while now, anybody hear anything on that front? That could certainly affect potential driver changes too.

Obviously #3 would have to happen before #1 is possible but I could see that as the most likely scenario of all. Chase might as well get hendrick motorsports tattooed on his forehead because Mr. Hendrick will do whatever it takes to lock him down (especially if a big time sponsor like NAPA is on board). Allgaier to the 78 is definitely a possibility... but not this offseason. IMO.

Don't think they are coming to Toyota. TRD won't bite--saving room for MWR and JGR expansion.

There is absolutely zero chance that Elliott gets away from Hendrick. If Gordon sticks around for several more years and Kahne suddenly lights the world on fire, they move Chase up to Cup in a JR Motorsports car, essentially a 5th Hendrick ride.

Dale Jr can't start JR motorsports in cup and drive for Hendrick 4 car rule...not positive on this but Michael Waltrip ran into something on that a couple years back while trying to drive someone else's car.

Yeah, I'm just assuming there's some kind of loophole they could exploit. I think Dale's sister basically runs it anyway, doesn't she?

Yea that's true they could just make it a "different organization" called kelly Earnhardt inc. Or something

I feel like it's a gray area Nascar would ignore. I bet they can't wait to make money off Chase

Between his talent and the namesake he is truly the future of the sport probably going to win as many "most popular" awards as his dad. And he's set up to win more races and championships then his dad was.

that doesn't make sense to me. two different teams as long as Rick is not listed as part owner. not saying you're wrong but a lot of what nascar does, makes no sense.

Bob dillnar said that hornish in the 21 nect year
couldn't catch it all, for the noise here, but a few races wasn't it, and heard i thought JGR nationwide. it's quite here until i'm trying to watch something, which is usually just racing

Haha I know how that goes, not sure on details l. Also Biffle has re signed with Roush according to Bleacher report.

my prayers are being heard
