He seems like another Paul menard, Martin truex type. Decent driver, takes care of equipment, but isn't gonna win races in the bunches
Larson will kick his ass easily. After 3 races.....
#3-Austin Dillon, 34 points
#42-Kyle Larson, 26
#51-Justin Allgaier, 25
#26-Cole Whitt, 23
#7-Michael Annett, 22
#23-Alex Bowman, 20
#30-Parker Kligerman, 15
#83-Ryan Truex, 14
If anyone out there has a good explanation of how these points are accumulated, feel free to post.
This is what I found on Jayski but I still don't understand.....
Car#-Driver, Races Attempted/Races Run; Attempt Pt + Race Rookie Pts + Bonus Pts = Total Rookie Pts
My calculations using the last know rules (see above):
#3-Austin Dillon, 3/3; 3 + 29 + 2 = 34
#42-Kyle Larson, 3/3; 3 + 23 + 0 = 26
#51-Justin Allgaier, 3/3; 3 + 22 + 0 = 25
#26-Cole Whitt, 3/3; 3 + 20 + 0 = 23
#7-Michael Annett, 3/3; 3 + 19 + 0 = 22
#23-Alex Bowman, 3/3; 3 + 17 + 0 = 20
#30-Parker Kligerman, 3/3; 3 + 12 + 0 = 15
#83-Ryan Truex, 3/2; 3 + 11 + 0 = 14
Attempted points - self explanatory.
Race Rookie Points - scratching my head on this one. How are their positions scored? WTH is their point system?
Bonus points - I'm not getting this one either. Dillon has two points. He led one lap @ Daytona. Do they get two points for a lap led?
In any event this is probably a rookie battle to follow this year so I'll continue to post the standings until eventually everyone agrees that Austin Dillon is The Man.

It was all Fender's fault. I'm innocent I say.r-f high principal on intercom ....."would dp...fender...an johali ....please report to my office immediately ! "
Larson gained nine spots, Dillon lost one. If Dillon wants to be something more that a footnote in the 3, he better start making some noise.
I told people it was a bad move putting him in the #3, did I not say this was a bad move?
Would Dillon be doing better if he was in the 31?
Dillon isn't doing much more than riding around and logging laps. He's where he is in points because he's finished all but two laps this year (only Newman, Edwards, Kenseth, and Gordon have finished more). However, he has fewer Top 10s than everyone else in the Top 26 in points other than Allmendinger and Mears. You guys aren't giving Dillon credit where due. Larson's a quicker learner, but Dillon's getting there. They're trading Rookie of the Race back and forth every week. Once Dillon gets another top-10, and you know he will because his name isn't Ricky Stenhouse, the standings will close right back up. This is really the first race where Larson completely outclassed Dillon. Even at Fontana, they were running similarly until that final restart. All I'm saying is don't write off Austin Dillon by any means, the guy's a champion.

I feel sorry for Parker Kligerman. That kid has a crapton of talent, but he has never really been given a chance to show it with a competitive team.

Anyone else think the difference between Dillon and Larson is the fact that Larson runs all the companion events in Nationwide?
It's not like Larson's running 10th while Dillon runs 30th each week. Larson can usually be found near Dillon in the running order.
Larson's lead will grow when they get past 17 races and he gets to start throwing out races like the Daytona 500. He has a better driver rating by a good margin (79.5 vs. 70.8). Dillon has had the good fortune of not being involved in any incidents yet and just finishes 15th-20th what seems like every week. It's not like Larson's running 10th while Dillon runs 30th each week.
