2016 Daytona - Coke Zero 400 - Pre Race Thread

Lol they can't qualify because lightning is in the area? They're in cars lol. I've been to a usac race where they emptied the stands due to lightning but they kept racing. Me thinks they could do that with qualifying and the 3 fans in attendance

#NASCAR reminded Xfinity drivers not to lock bumpers in tonight's race or be black flagged. If late in race, get timed penalty

Not surprising JGR/FRR 1-5 right now

Shocked that Alan didn't bring that car from the 500/Dega back again. Downforce or not, that thing was fast.

Well thats a strange sight, Biff sitting on P1 for the moment

Load of crock. Bring back the tandem.

On an unrelated note, I'm bummed for Josh Wise - he and TMG are probably going to need one of the Premium cars to wreck in qualifying (or for Front Row not to bring back the 35) to make Talladega in October. Their restrictor plate program still leaves much to be desired.

And Biffle on the pole

I really don't like this at all.
Because the rule isn't always enforced. Depends on who is locked to whom and what lap it is. This is a selective BS rule.
They should be able to lock up until the rear car is pushing water out, but that would be much too competitive and entertaining.

Absolutely correct. They enforce the rule subjectively.....depending on who it is.

This guy gets it.

Happy to see the old fart on the pole. It'd be a hoot to watch him put a Truex-at-Charlotte tail whuppin' on 'em tomorrow.

Biffle's starting spot is irrelevant, he will crash out.

Go Biffle tonight!!! Man he needs a win even if it his last one of his career. I think it would be a popular one.

I will be fascinated to see if they took all of the downforce off of that thing and this screws him in the race which has become more and more of a handling thing--couldn't blame them....Ford needs a good story even if it's just a pole. Hendrick is very aggressive this weekend from the downforce perspective to be good in the race. JGR looks to have the complete package IMO which means little in a plate race unless they can team up as they did in February. Love this stuff.

I'd be good with fillin' Lloyd back up with the dirt from the turns 'n makin' it a flat track.

That ain't gonna happen either.

I like it the way it is but it can't happen anyway. Lake Lloyd is a retention pond and by law has to be left the way it is.

Weather, like always, might be an issue. Looking at the radar there's several cells around including a few still in the Gulf. Hopefully the race is over by a reasonable hour.

It's raining here. Shocker.

That be the world's most boring oval, aka Indy

Sounds like the start could be delayed a little bit, but there's only a 25% chance of rain after 8.
