Thanks. I wondered why practice wasn't on my CNBC channel.

Thanks to everyone for all the info as I wasn't sure where the race was this week (forgot about Kansas) or what day it was being run. I am glad to see the weather looks good and we'll see if Dorothy clicks her slippers and changes anything. Fingers crossed I can see this race tomorrow between the 1 and 4 o'clock games and before Sunday night football starts.

I still can't figure out why they rebanked this track. Old Kansas had a solid top lane.

Nascar has a history of taking great tracks and racing surfaces and ruining them. Rockingham had a unique surface, Atlanta used to be a dandy little 1 mile track, Bristol used to be a guaranteed great show until Bruton started screwing with things and he did the same at Charlotte. Richmond was a nifty half mile track and we lost 2 good races from Wilkesboro and one from Darlington.

If you figure all the surfaces and configurations that have been lost over the past 25-30 years it adds up to 13 race dates.

Can't say I disagree with most except Rockingham not being any fault except attendance. No way NASCAR would have a Championship 4 on a flat Homestead either.

Both Rockingham and Atlanta got saddled with some very early dates that didn't help them at all and the funny thing about attendance is at the time Rockingham wasn't good but now it would be perfectly acceptable. It absolutely floors me that Homestead has something like 54,000 seats and it still isn't a sellout yet twice as many people will show up for the 500 in February to watch a plate race. I doubt I will ever live long enough to understand that.

It's built on the spot where Dorothy's House squished the Wicked Witch...that's why they gave it a Chase Race. They were going to call it the yellow-brick track and have a line of yellow bricks kinda like Indy...but there were copyright issues.

Yellow bricks, don't give France any ideas.

I still remember the 06/05/11 race here being the one I've seen. I think the key was the hotter weather. I was really disappointed when they built this track. Where is the creativity with design? This track definitely has it going on with the area surrounding it though. I live about ten minutes from here and still haven't been. It just doesn't do enough for me to get off the couch and go out there.
