FYI ...

Sprint Cup qualifying Friday streamed on NBC app, no live national TV. (NBCSN has U.S. Olympic track trials).
I was wondering when conflicts with the Olympics would rear their heads, but I figured it wouldn't start until the Games' opening ceremonies. Silly me.

I wonder witch grabs the higher ratings, Olympic or NASCAR Qualifying? Both being on a channel that is not received by the masses.

I'm aware of the impact of ratings on a network's programming choices. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

Q: If so many people are interested watching in track and field, gymnastics, swimming, etc, why aren't they on TV more often than every four years?
A: Because viewers aren't really interested in those sports. It's all about the hype. Nobody gave a hoot about the NFL draft until young ESPN saw it as their only available connection to the league and started promoting the stuffing out of it. This year the Olympic hype has the added sideshows of the Zeka virus and contaminated venues.

I can only answer your question about Track & Field because I follow it. It is on every year during its season. I record and watch it from time to time. This really isn't for this thread but what is going on right now in Eugene, Oregon is kind of a big deal to those of us that follow the sport. It's even a bigger deal to those athletes that work so hard to represent the country that we live in. They take a lot of pride in that. Heck, I take a lot of pride in that. It would be nice if even more of us would. To many of these people it's a lifetime of dedication in work. I can respect that.

NBC actually televises a decent amount of track regularly, coming from someone who follows it.

Watkins Glen Cup race will be on USA, and I think some Xfinity races got moved to USA and CNBC as well.
You are correct about the X races, three of them, Watkins Glen will be on CNBC, Mid Ohio on USA, and Bristol on USA

Love my TRD Toyota speed yesterday. Excited to see what today brings. I'm probably wired differently, but I love this ****. Fascinating. Thinking that the Penskes have more speed than they showed yesterday.....
