2016 Richmond - Toyota Owners 400 - Pre Race Thread

Looks like the weather is pretty much gone and we should get some qualifying today

I was disappointed in all three of the Dew cars this week. Not a fan.
I like the neon-pastel shades against the black. The stripe configuration (three stripes separating 3/4 of the way to the back wheel, one curving up, one down) is one I haven't seen before.

That whole stripe deal is the only thing I wasn't crazy about. Also, pre-season, Chase had the black and green firesuit. Guess they decided to completely change that up.

This'll be the first (planned) daytime Richmond race I've seen. Glad to see a move away from Saturday nights. A few night races are special, but NASCAR belongs on Sunday afternoons.
I wish Charlotte would do the same. Last October's Charlotte race was another rain-delayed-to-next-day race, same as Richmond's was. I'm just too old for night races followed by a drive home, and I've always been to cheap to get a hotel for a track less than 2.5 hours from home.

Chase is starting 23rd because he didn't run a qualifying lap in practice like most of them did.
I assume they didn't expect the rain, but his number of laps suggests to me that they were just working on race runs no matter what. There's been a few times this year where they didn't make a Q run in practice for whatever reason.

Decorum prohibits passing along my thoughts of the 18's appearance.

It is safe to say if I ever acquire an animal to hold captive, the beast will not be taken to one of the franchised offices for veterinary attention. Suggest they spend their advertising dollars on naming rights for Pocono's dog park.

Yeah, I don't go to 'Doc in the Box' so I don't see taking my mutt to one either.

Kyle Busch has the worst group of paint schemes I've ever seen for one driver. Between the ugly goofball M&M's, zebra Interstate, that Banfield scheme, etc. He had a cool looking Snickers car a few years back, but that's the only decent looking car in recent memory

That one in Homestead last year was awesome. The one with confetti and champagne stuck all over it, and the Champion's trophy on top.

All the confetti and champagne and trophies in the world couldn't make that car look good. The ugly M&M's scheme predates Kyle, all the way back to the Elliott Sadler and Kenny Schrader cars. I get it, you want to advertise your product and have your car stand out, but it's still a goofy looking car.

Why was it a crappy Hendrick car? Kenny Francis was crew chief and fully funded

Gordon made the statement is was a "thrown together team", Kenny Francis said it was difficult to put together a 5th team. How do you know it was fully funded?

Napa auto parts and full support from Hendrick.

Well, got the important chores done and am ready to settle down for some "Richmond Racin".

I even put some food out for the outdoor cat clan (all black and whites). The head of the clan was there to monitor the situation as usual - and usually eats last. I'm not sure but my guess would be that she pretty much had "involvement" in the whole clan - since they all look like her ;)...anyway, she runs the place and if an interloper comes in she has a trusted assistant to help her out - 8 claws are better than 4 - I call her TRL :D

Let's Go Racing !!!
