2017 Atlanta - Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 - Pre Race Thread

Bowyer had top 10 speed, he didn't drive hard enough into 1 and 2 compared to his entry in 3 and 4.

He looked just as good in 3 and 4 as the others in the top 5, that car was hooked up through that corner.

How long till Clint starts blaming the car?

The onboards here are great to watch. I'm going to miss the bumps.

Quite a moment for Suarez there.

How long till Clint starts blaming the car?

Read my post, his car was by far the best in 3 and 4.

He didn't push hard enough, he had plenty of time to get. He gained over 5 tenths in 3 and 4 alone.

The Rocket Man looks like he is back.

The Hampton skyline and it's forgotten children, so many souls that don't get no credit is more than 30 minutes away, from Atlanta.

The souless hole that call themselves the people of Atlanta and others might think it is funny to disrespect the fine people of Hampton. And I reckon after getting disgraced and asswhupped by New England in the Super Bowl, the souless hole needs a little Hampton to bully.

Bruton the serial village abuser that has done the same to thing Concord NC , and Irving Texas.. I know the RF YFL 2016 champion is a proud citizen of Irving and knows the pain and neglect that the children of Hampton has to be feeling tonight.

Aside from Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton has a 3-story church and a water tower. Together, they make for a very impressive skyline. :)

As for Irving, it's considered a suburb of Dallas. I've never lived in Irving.

Actually, Fort Worth spurred the growth of its own suburbs. But yes, ignorant people who don't know better may agree with you.

Heading to the track in a half hour.
Goal of the day - see Chase win in the 23 truck.
See an Xfinity regular win.
Ask around whats better - Fanatics tent or Team trailors.

Goals did not go to well :

1 - Chase got 5th in the truck race.

2- Xfinity regular did not win. Sadler was highest with a 5th.
(I am detecting a trend)

3- My mini poll on who does better - Souvenir trailers or the Fanatics tent?
The ones I talked to (Atlanta Track Trailer)said they have never talked to the workers at the big tent to
find out. It was their observation that they thought fans liked trailers better.
I would rank my findings as inconclusive.

Excited for this race today, love this track. Racing has always been great here, weather looks great too.

Right here. Can't wait. In terms of performance, you have to get past the 4, but the tires make everything a crapshoot.

Was it a better day than being at work? :p

So they are folding a flag and then unfolding a flag? Also ballfield?

I hope it shows on tv but from what I can tell from walking in the gates and tailgating there are a LOT of people here today. More than I've seen for an Atlanta race since I've been coming. The weather has been absolutely fantastic the last 4 days.

TIRE CODES

Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

Set limits:
5 sets for practice, 1 set for qualifying/start of race and 12 sets for the race

Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4680; Right-side -- D-4682

Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.48 in. (2,222 mm) Right-side -- 88.39 in. (2,245 mm)

Minimum Recommended Inflation:
Left Front -- 19 psi Left Rear -- 19 psi;
Right Front -- 50 psi Right Rear -- 47 psi

Storyline
- Worn Surface and New Rules Make Tire Management Critical at Atlanta: Goodyear will bring a unique tire combination to Atlanta, with its long, sweeping turns and worn surface. Atlanta was the first NASCAR track at which Goodyear's multi-zone tread technology was used back in 2013, with two distinct tread compounds on the same right-side tire - one being traction-focused on the outboard 10 inches of the tire to grip the worn out asphalt (Traction Zone) and one being firmer on the inboard two inches to deal with the heat and loading generated by the track's long, high-banked turns (Endurance Zone). While tire management always comes into play at Atlanta, it may even be more so this year - considering the abrasive track surface and teams short-pitting to take advantage of fresh tires, NASCAR's new tire set allocation rules and teams adjusting strategies to race for stage wins/points.

Notes: While teams in all three NASCAR Series will run the same right-side tire code (D-4682) at Atlanta this week, those in the Cup and Xfinity Series will run a different left-side code than those in the Camping World Truck Series . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Cup teams ran at Atlanta last year . . . in the Xfinity Series, this is the first time teams have run either of these two tire codes . . . the differences for Xfinity teams, compared to what was run at Atlanta last season, are a compound change on the outboard 10 inches of the right-side (more grip), and both compound (more grip) and construction (to bring in line with what is run at other speedways) changes to the left-side . . . Atlanta is the only track at which these teams are scheduled to run either of these two tire codes in 2017 . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire
