I'll tell you what watching Indycar the other night confirms why NASCAR is the best racing league in the world. It's amazing how proficient these guys are in multiple disciplines, while in Indy they really struggled except for a few top guys to maintain grip and pull off passes. It's just obvious what the higher quality sport is

What's the rain policy on attending make up races? Weather looks ****** for Saturday Will my ticket for the cup race get me in the xfinity race if they make it up Sunday afternoon?

New surface and unfriendly aero.

All that info should be on the ticket or on the website for the race track .

90's era throwback , that would make me do the happy dance , I love the 90's NASCAR ,and that only makes sense for that to follow the, wait for it.............the 90's.

Will be interesting to see how the thorwbacks from 1948/49 will work out.

The Old Man is doing well. A couple of weeks of rehab / physical therapy and they'll kick him to the curb. Thanks to everyone for their concern.

Here's your little (lack of a) ray of sunshine from the NWS. Beats being in Houston.

My brother is headed to Darlington today pulling his camper and it's been raining here (So.GA) all day. Praying he has a safe trip. I hate driving in rain.

Yeah, towing in the rain is not fun. Only thing worse is towing in the snow/ice. Done that a few times wrapped around the spring Bristol trips over the years.

I love this race. One of My absolute favorite tracks and races on the calendar. It's the Southern 500, one of the only NASCAR traditions left. The 1997 Southern 500/Winston Million race is one of my all time favorites.

I sat in those grandstands in the 80's
I remember as a kid that roof over the grand stands made Darlington cool to me. Then I saw when Bill won the 85 Winston Million how everyone sitting there went wild. Why did they get rid of that rooft? And isn't that on the backstretch now but it was the front stretch then?

They reconfigured the track years ago. Ther old backstretch is now the frontstretch. At least I'm 90% sure they did. Lol

Yes. They couldn't expand the old front stretch because of the highway running right next to the track. Easier just to flip and build stands on the other side.
And I miss that old roof, too.

Hey, y'all planning on driving over here this weekend better watch the availability of gasoline. The pipeline that supplies about half the gas coming into the Carolinas is down again due to Harvey. The price is up 40 cents since Monday, and there are scattered third-hand reports of lines and shortages. Rain may be the least of your holiday travel problems.
