Storyline - High Wear, High Drama on Tap at Homestead: As NASCAR crowns champions in its three national series this weekend, teams will be competing at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which has become one of the more high tire wear tracks on the circuit. High wear results in a greater amount of fall-off in lap times as a run goes on. That, in turn, brings ipn a driver's ability to manage his tires and creates a climate for more comers and goers - drivers that work their tires harder early in a run vs. drivers that are easier on their tires and have more long run speed. That situation leads to more passing throughout the field and, coupled with Homestead's layout and progressive banking, creates a great environment for competitive racing.
"Homestead has quietly become one of the highest wear tracks that we race on in NASCAR," said Greg Stucker, Goodyear's director of racing. "We have a new tire set-up compared to last year that not only takes that into account, but also balances the lower downforce world in which we operate. This is the same set-up we ran at Chicagoland to start to Cup playoffs, as Homestead and Chicagoland have traditionally been aligned in our tire lineup. What we've done with this 2017 tire package is give the cars more grip with the compounds on both sides of the car, while staying with a multi-zone right-side to handle to loads and speeds we see at Homestead. One other thing of note about this weekend, is the reduction of race sets for Cup teams compared to last year at Homestead. Cup teams will have nine race sets in addition to the qualifying set they start the race on, as compared to 12 race sets plus one transferred practice set last year. That will bring tire management into play on race day."

Notes: While teams in all three NASCAR series in action at Homestead this weekend will run the same right-side tire code, teams in the Cup and Xfinity Series will run a different left-side code than those in the Truck Series . . . for Cup and Xfinity, this is a different tire set-up than they ran at Homestead last year, though they did run this exact combination of left- and right-side tires at Chicagoland in September . . . they also ran this left-side tire code at Fontana earlier this season . . . compared to Homestead last year, this left-side tire code (D-4650) features a compound change to give the cars more grip . . . this right-side tire code (D-4746) is like last year's in that it is a multi-zone tread tire, though this version features an updated construction (to align with other speedways) and new compounds in both the two-inch inboard Endurance Zone and the 10-inch outboard Traction Zone (to enhance grip) . . . the tire set-up was confirmed at a NASCAR organizational test at Homestead on October 25-26. . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Homestead . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Anybody going to the race has got to try one of these. They're huge and absolutely delicious. We got two and had to take one back to the campground with us. That's my half on the plate. Check out the link.

"A dessert twist on an empanada, the Champanada is a banana-lover’s dream. The Champanada consists of caramelized plantains in fresh-made banana pudding, wrapped in a crisp, flaky crust, drizzled with Carmel sauce and dusted with powdered sugar and crushed Nilla wafers".

I could be wrong altogether.. from what Todd says they're behind in something to do with the rear end.

He went bad after the encumbered win....rear skew. I was surprised that they could never figure out a way to engineer around it.

So is it just Jr. , Kenseth, Patrick in their last race possibly?
Well, Derrick Cope isn't entered so maybe we've already seen the last of him and the #00. With any luck at all we'll be able to look back on this day and add Carl Long to that list.

Who, and what?

Football Night in America and Sunday Night Football personalities that review the events of the day and preview the night's game. It is remarkable how NBC can have such competent and professional people for football but have a pack of jackasses for Nascar.

Good article the Kyle Damn Busch camp has their race faces on

Kyle Busch wants to win in the best worst way

Bingo. There will be no moral victories, no happy-to-be-there moments for Busch when he competes against Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Brad Keselowski for the title on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Stevens feels the same way.

"At the end of your career, they aren't going to say, 'How many times did you put yourself in position?' They're going to ask you, 'How many times did you do it?'" Stevens said. "That's just professional sports. I completely agree."

But stats exist for how many times a player or coach gets to the Super Bowl. It does get talked about.

"That's what they say when they haven't won it," Stevens said.

If you want a championship really bad, we've got a really bad champion.

Again.. and going off Todd.. he said Texas 1 was when they fell behind. Really Joey ran around 10-12th for most of that Richmond race. Won by strategy so I really don't think we can attribute the win to the infraction.

Love the look of the Champlanada! Speaking of food, we will be looking for a great place to eat lunch on Sunday at the track. Last couple of years we did the buffet thing with the driver, but decided to skip it. Taking customers so would like to have some quality options other than carny burgers. Anyone see any place we should consider?

Why are they having stages in this race I wonder? Seems kind of pointless. I guess it's for the 5th and below guys maybe?
