2017 Michigan - FireKeepers Casino 400 - Pre Race Thread

Michigan is my favorite track that I've been to! I went to the August race last year for the first time in 12 years (went in '03 and '04) and it didn't take long to realize how much I like it. The weather didn't let me down either! It was brutally hot! I've been to close to 100 Cup races and 3 out of the Top 5 hottest were at Michigan. The facility is awesome! Just a great place to watch a race. My only complaints are the races can go by really quick and their often pretty drama less. I'm not sure if I'll go back out this year but it is on my radar!
It's interesting how we all have different opinions. I been to Michigan several times and can honestly say it is the only racetrack I have ever been to that I fell asleep in the stands during a race.

How is that even possibly with how loud it is lol... well my girl did fall asleep at the 600 haha

I noticed they didn't kickoff last weekend's race until 3:20 or so and it is happening again this weekend. Do you know of the reasons as to why that is?
Sure, NASCAR said the fans have been asking for later start times so they did what the fans asked for. See, it's much better this way, because now the average Joe will also need a place to stay Sunday night and probably can't make it home in time to go to work the next day. And then NASCAR wonders why attendance is down....geesh.

I do but I don't have FS2 just FS1
My Dish Network package only gives me FS1 but I can stream any of the Fox Sports Network coverage on my phone, PC, Fire Stick and Roku. Worth a shot.

It's similar for me and ESPN3. I don't have that channel on my home package but I can still stream it through ESPN's app to every device.

I agree as different strokes for different folks but the main reason we all stopped going to MIS was it wasn't worth the time invested. We used to camp in the infield but then decided to go to camping at a nearby state park instead.

I have been at Nascar races where I have developed something like highway hypnosis or got a major case of the yawns. At a big track like MIS it really isn't loud at all when watching from the middle of the infield as the cars are strung out.

MIS is relatively close to me and when the race started at noon it was easy to see the race and get home and go to work the next day. With starting almost 3.5 hours later it may not be worth it for the people who used to make a day trip of it.

Probably heading over to practice in a few. I will say I don't believe this will be without a restrictor plate much longer if NASCAR has its way.

Thing about MIS is the restarts are epic, damn thing is so wide you can get 3-4 wide at time, especially at the start finish line

Damn u got me wanting to leave Charlotte and go!!! Lol

Did Freightliner come up with this?

Damn, I guess simplicity helps. Just slap a couple of stickers on and call it a day.

Have you ever been on the freeway with a stack of brand-new freightliners being towed together? They are always white and clean, much like this livery. ;)

We saw several the last three weeks on our latest racing/vacation road trip.
