2017 NASCAR Schedule

Not to mention, Eddie Gossage is the best promoter in the business. He knows how to get fans excited about races at what is possibly the most boring racetrack ever constructed.
It takes all kinds, I guess. What gets me excited is when driving skill is severely tested, as well as team execution skills, to determine the winner. Texas Motor Speedway with the current aero rules does that to the Nth degree. Kudos to Jeff Gordon for delivering an eloquent and detailed description a few weeks ago of what makes TMS so challenging and so rewarding. Personally, I'm thrilled to see the drivers dancing on the razor's edge lap after lap. I admit it is too subtle for some. There are fans who prefer the more overt "action" of pack racing at Talladega or fender banging on a short track. But for those who appreciate razor edge car control, bravery, risk taking, race craft, and strategy, TMS is more than able to test all those attributes.

Humpy wheeler had the right idea three years ago. If you're gonna have the season come down to one race, why not make it at the sports most famous track? Swap homestead out with Daytona's second date and bookend the season at the world center of racing.
A plate race for the championship? I question the wisdom of this suggestion. Strongly.

will commit to NASCAR again weekly for the next 5 years if no more tracks get more banking. Loves the diversity. People say IndyCar racing is better, I laugh that new IndyCar is so ugly, have any of you seen it?
I don't base my opinion of the quality of the racing solely on the appearance of the cars.

... Martinsville isn't going to lose a date, not now, not ever. Honestly, it's probably the only track that could survive having races on two terrible, ****** dates. If there was a blizzard the night before the race, the fans would help dig the track out the next morning so they could race. ...
And I, for one, would pay good money for the privilege and a T-shirt saying "I shoveled at Martinsville and all I got was this lousy hot dog!"

I have no problem with closing at Homestead or any other non-plate track.

Let me put it this way; if you asked the average American or even the casual motorsports fan what the most iconic racetracks in NASCAR were, you'd probably get something like Daytona, Charlotte, Bristol Night race, Talladega, maybe Darlington. If we're gonna have playoffs to determine a champion (and don't kid yourselves guys, the chase is staying) then it should feature the most prestigious races at the most famous and popular tracks. All of the above tracks should be in the chase at least if not be round-ending races.

Yeah, I know this would involve moving around some "traditional" dates, but there's nothing traditional about NASCAR anymore.

Which is why the world series goes between fenway and Wrigley every year
