2017 Phoenix - Camping World 500(k) - Pre Race Thread

I actually have a schedule printed out at work that says this is the Good Sam 500. Not sure if the race changed names or what.

I should have something like that. I spent a lot of time looking for the Cup pre-race thread. o_O

Remembered why I don’t watch TV interviews after whoever the “journalist” was that did her best to get Larson to say his dirt driving helped him with the chopped up events.

The television is off now. I feel much better.

95 degrees in the stands is miserable as hell . the reflected sunlight will crispy critter your bod

and 2nd degree burns on your rear end

Even in Feb it would get a bit toasty.

Whoa 94!? That's incredible for this time of year out there
Its a little bit warmer than normal, but the last say three years this time in March has been in the mid to high 80's. Its just going to be hot from now till about early Nov <_<:cuckoo:

Watching quals and Jaimie McMurray has a right side fender flare

Yep, Big Bird returneth to peck out the eyeballs of his competition.

Good pole Logano and a Penske 1-2.

So..... Joey wins the pole today. What would have made it better is if they asked him how it feels to have won the pole today after all of the controversy surrounding last week. He could have said that 'Everything's great!'

It's early, but it's looking like Larson and Elliott are real threats at at least making the final four. They have been up front every week and seem to have very good cars.

Two hat observations I've noticed this year....

All the Ford drivers are always wearing Ford hats

Kyle Busch now prefers flat-bills

I'm still not sure why NASCAR doesn't do Daytona - Phoenix - Las Vegas - Auto Club - Texas - Atlanta to start the year if they're so concerned about cutting costs. Either way I personally feel like the hot weather in the desert (close by) is much more tolerable than any humidity that everyone else gets.

Indeed. Suarez looks like a turd in a championship seat and Jones is running fine with a brand new team.

Three races into the season, one of them an unpredictable plate race. Insufficient data. Revisit these predictions back after three more.

Those flat bills don't fit him at all either, they look awful

Before the world recognized the flat-brim’s awesome coolness, Gordon did a commercial tellin’ folks to always curl the brim of a new ball cap so “you don’t look like a dork.”

Guess that one’s buried somewhere.

I believe that's the one right here. One of my favorite commercials ever! Growing up a 24 fan I always make sure those hats are formed correctly!

where is harvicks speed??? :(

he is supposed to be the PHX master...

LOL...... I was never a big Jeff Gordon fan ...... but.... he was 110 percent right.... the brim HAS to be rolled just right....... You used to always see the drivers when they were given a hat hat roll the brim before they put it on.... that's just hat ettiquette and the way a cap should be worn.... these kids now wearing hats with the bill straighter than a ruler look like the biggest dorks.... I really shouldn't just target kids.... that Jesse James guy that builds cars and bikes....(married Sandra Bullock....I never could understand what she saw in him) he was the first one to piss me off years ago by wearing a cap like that.... MAJOR..... MAJOR .... Dork......

Curved, straight, I don't care how the kids wear them as long as they at least have the bill facing forward.

My National Guard days were the only time I regularly wore headgear, 'cause I was paid to do so. I'd leave the most of the center of the brim flat and straight, but bend the last 1.5 inches of either side down at a hard medium angle. It looked better than straight across, but gave a distinctive touch.

Now that I'm not paid to wear a cap two days a month and two weeks a year, I never wear one unless I'm painting the ceiling. I have a wide-brimmed straw hat for the garden and most outdoor activities. Much better circulation under there, and the band doesn't stink after a few sweaty days; cheaper, too. At the track, it's a 2002-era #17 visor, again so I can get some circulation.
