I wonder if Hurricane Irma will affect this weeks race plans?

Good luck to those of you in its projected path. I'm assuming you are keeping an eye on this down your way @Johali?

Yessir. This one is gonna be nasty nasty whichever way it goes. Just ran my checks, hard wired generator is good, filled up the gas tank and 10 five gallon cans. 12 cases of bottled water and 10 cases of gallon jugs of water. And all of the usual preparations. Thanks for asking.

Weather permitting.....

I think this weekend will be OK. What I worry about is all the people in the path of this monster.
I have large numbers of friends not only in Florida, but Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.

As a totally secondary matter, all the race tracks in the path of this storm when/if it turns north ---
Homestead, Daytona, Atlanta, Darlington, Charlotte and so on.

What do you do with the boat in the face of this?

Heck I thought you might take the wife and camper and bug out if it looks like it's going to be a direct hit

This one is too big. If it's heading anywhere near us I'll take the boat and the camper to my cousins farm about 100 miles NW of here.

I edited the last post.
My father and another retired Air Force vet ran a pair of 35' charter fishing boats out of Holden Beach NC in the '90s. They'd take those as far up stream as they could, tie them off to the trees on either side as best they could, and cross their fingers.

If it's still over a 4 we'll probably go up to my cousins and sneak back in before the winds die down to look after our property. My family has been here for over 200 years and have never left for a storm. But this one is different. I may be old but I aint stupid. :D

That's what we did when we owned bigger boats before we downsized.

I went through Hugo in '89. Landfall as a Cat 4 and just short of Cat 3 when it ran over me 80 miles inland. Never again. I'm now over 100 inland and bug out for anything expected to make landfall over Cat 2. Mother Nature must be a hermaphrodite, 'cause she has bigger coconuts than I do.

I know this storm is of great concern to all of us, but can we take the storm talk to the thread in Chit-Chat, please?
And, yes, I'm concerned about all of our members in Florida and in the path of the storm. Please add Whizzer and his
wife to your thoughts.

My bad. I thought I was in the storm thread.

Sorry, Boss Lady.

beats the hell out of who is screwing around on his wife IMO, :D a hell of a lot more important, but yeah I get it boss, but the question was asked. Thoughts and prayers. BTW first race for the composite bodies on Xfinity. I really wonder if it will even things up a bit. Wouldn't that be something if it worked.

Anyone think the 16 currently qualified for the Chase will change? I don't think we are going to see a new winner this week but no doubt risks will be taken by some. Hopefully it will make for an exciting race.

^ Watch out for the 22.

You read it here first.

As a Kenseth fan, I need them to be locked in .

Only team at this point that has a chance for a win would be Logano IMO. And if he doesn't qualify up front on this little track, the odds continue to fall for that to happen.

Storyline - High Tire Wear Leads to Great Racing at Richmond: Coming off a race at Darlington Raceway, the NASCAR circuit visits another high tire wear track in Richmond Raceway this week. Goodyear brings a tire combination to Richmond that addresses that and will rubber-in the race track. That, of course, leads to multiple racing grooves. The other interesting thing about Richmond is that while it has traditionally lined up with other tracks of similar length - New Hampshire and Phoenix - it requires a little more stagger (difference in height between the shorter left-side and taller right-side tires) being built into the tire set-up to help the cars turn in the corners.

"Richmond is a tricky track -- not only for drivers and teams, but also for Goodyear," said Greg Stucker, Goodyear's director of racing. "With the wear characteristics of the track surface, our goal when deciding on a tire set-up was to come up with a tread compound that lays down rubber. With the tire recommendation we've brought to Richmond the last couple seasons, we've been able to do that, which then creates multiple lines and makes it incumbent on teams to stay on top of their set-ups and drivers to find the fastest line, which will change over the course of the race."

Notes: Teams in both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same Goodyear tire codes at Richmond this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires these teams ran earlier this season and twice last season at Richmond . . . this is the only track at which teams in these two series will run these tire codes (Camping World Truck Teams ran this same tire set-up at Gateway) . . . as on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run liners in their tires at Richmond.

Tire bill for this weekend? $25,760.00 Plus tax.

Know what you mean. brought what used to be an good local off brand and only got 35 thou highway miles on them. Went back to Goodrich T/A's, good for over 60 thou. Hell of a rain tire, never had hydroplaning unless around 10 percent tread left.

I cannot, for the life of me, call it the playoffs.
I am with ya Pat, the Chase , ok, the Playoff's , nope, I call it the final 10 races
