2017 Richmond - Federated Auto Parts 400 - Pre Race Thread

Why would they make Erik sit there strapped into his car on pit road for 60 mins instead of putting him in the car within a few mins of when they're able to go out?

Think of the poor student made to stand in the corner wearing a Dunce Cap.

Know what you mean. brought what used to be an good local off brand and only got 35 thou highway miles on them. Went back to Goodrich T/A's, good for over 60 thou. Hell of a rain tire, never had hydroplaning unless around 10 percent tread left.

Hydroplaning in Nebraska, Kansas or Oklahoma would be fine with me as traveling through them is mind numbing and as dull as dishwater so a little excitement of any kind would be welcomed. There is a reason the geese fly upside down when passing through those places.

I thought they flew backwards, since they wanted to see where they've been.

I thought they flew upside down because there wasn't anything worth crapping on.......:D

For every Colorado, Vermont or Wyoming there is a North Dakota, Kansas or Oklahoma. I live in an area so flat I get excited when I hit a speed bump in the Kroger's parking lot.

I really hope they give this race this traditional date back in 2019

Some thoughts on tonight's race.

Serious contenders: #2, #4, #11 & #41 with the #77 possibly pulling out his 1st win.

I expect #1, #20 & #24 to play it safe, depending on who the front runners are. However, if #20 can keep his car out front, he will.

Driving like it's their last race: #6, #13, #14, #19, #22, #77 & #88

What wouldn't surprise me? #48 turning up the juice and dropping the pedal.

What would rock Richmond? a win by the #88.

The two drivers with the biggest disagreement after the race: Bowyer and Logano.

24 takes the checkers, the black and white one. :D

Eh lets go out on a limb and say the 19 does what it did 13 years ago at Richmond.

I will be so happy when this race is over, I am so tired of hearing about JoLo and will he make it in, the media has beaten the poop out of that horse

Ahhh, the garage area for the Xfinity Series is going to be moved outside of the back stretch, hmmmm

Strange. I guess there will be no way to spectate from back there anymore?

For the X Series race, no, but maybe for the Cup race, they can move in temporary bleachers , I didnt see a physical garage building in the rendering , so who knows.

I know many here dont like him, but man, I think its awesome that Rut is getting to drive the pace car, and I am excited for him, with him, he truly seems honored.

I dislike him a lot less when I remind myself he can only do the coverage he's assigned, and that I wouldn't like most of what he's assigned if it was covered by the reincarnation of Benny Parsons.

Rut is a car guy, has a pretty cool car collection. I watched a special with him on there he's a lot different. He's just a nice guy doing a scripted role for NBC IMO.

Ive got to meet him at PIR, he is genuinely a nice guy, he really is just doing a role, you dont gotta explain that to me, but to everyone else here that hate's him ;)

I am going to call it now, this race is going to be very anticlimactic.

I really don't have a clue who is going to win, the hype could be right, or it could be a yawner. I'm siding with a close race with strategy playing a role.
