2018 Pocono 400 - Pre-Race Thread

#1 is worthy as the Allison crash is an all timer but the Sacks/Speed crash from 1989.........
........If Pocono had concrete walls at the time instead of steel boiler plates it would have been fatal imo.

Those steel boiler plates at the impact point look like the lining of an above-ground backyard pool.

I love Pocono.

Every turn different and just oozes speed.

It’s dangerous as heck but it’s a classic.

Hoping for some great racing today and tomorrow.

Last year it was the 18 & 78
This season it' the 4 & 18
Turning into F1. 2 teams per season that are miles ahead of everyone else.

It was pretty much the 78 most of the year and KDB turned it up come playoff time. I agree with you. I hear all the time that there's more parity than ever, but I don't see it.

I always laugh when people talk about the parity. There's less than at any time since I've followed the sport

Take 'em to the wind tunnel! OSS will fix everything!

NASCAR has always had one or two teams dominating a season since I’ve been watching mid to late 90s’. Only difference is that there would be the occasional Joe Nemechek or somebody that would unload and kick everybody’s butt some weekend. For the most part though, it’s always been a top heavy sport

Thought I saw something this week that said Harvick and Busch are the first driver pairing to each win 4+ of the first 13 races since 197X.

Sounds like if any rain hits in early afternoon it could end up causing a delay in the start, at least that's how I read this:

the rain is moving up from the south. looking at the radar they should sneak it in. fog and low hanging clouds (mist) could be an issue at some point.

i'm about 8 miles from that track.

Kinda like the 90s honestly. There were not that many different guys who won races in those days. You had two or three guys usually split most of the win Columns with a few other guys getting the checkers here and there.

For some reason the year 2000 had quite a bit of paredy amongst winners. Honestly it was headed that direction then all the sudden within a couple seasons it started drifting back to having a smaller group of winners through the seasons. Strange

I think it was cause Hendrick was off in 2000 and that literally left the door open for several other guys to taste the champagne that year.

I rate the National Anthem a 2. Until close to the end, I couldn't actually tell if that's what they were playing or not.

Listening to MRN bummed did I miss Mikey’s awkward grid walk?

Love the way these cars operate on this track. Hopefully it’s a good race and this isn’t the last time we see cup cars shifting and diving into corners here at 205 mph.
