Supposed to be between 105-110F this weekend in Seattle. Will be interesting with most houses without AC in the Pacific Northwest.

Just got done visiting Portland. Getting out of there just in time. The forecasted high for Sunday is currently 111-114 depending on the source. All time record across all dates is 107.

The landscape in most of Oregon already looked more like August than June.

High was 115 in Portland and 117 in Salem, OR today. Portland broke its all-time high temperature record three days in a row. Canadian national record broken at 116 as well.

What's crazy is that Portland's all time high now exceeds all time high records for Dallas, Houston, Austin, and Atlanta.

We've besn without power at home since Saturday at 2:00 PM due to the damage caused by successive severe thunderstorms and an incompetent utility's ability to handle the scope of the issues. Going a day or two without electricity is an interesting challenge. Beyond that, it becomes increasingly difficult and distressing very fast.

We are bumping up a return to the PNW vacation and work trip by two weeks as a result, because frankly I have no confidence that we'll have power by mid-week. Need to figure out a generator situation. On the road now. Maybe it's better to get out west ahead of the rapidly worsening fire season, which I have fears could be cataclysmic.

When I read something like this I'm glad I live in a place where we don't have to deal with 100+ temperatures, forest fires, tornados or Hurricanes.

Hopefully it won't be too bad.

We're in another extended heat wave here. Heat indexes have been over 100° for well over a month now - with the exception of the one week it rained all week.

So ready for winter.
