The ice race seems to be dead though.
Haven't followed the series much lately but I'm glad Venray is back. An all-road course NASCAR series doesn't make much sense imo.

I'm guessing teams weren't thrilled with the idea? Or it just wasn't going to work. I know in the US ice racing has had problems because the lakes won't freeze deep enough. I know this was supposed to be on a solid course though.

I did watch the final race of this year. One championship contender entered his brother for the race who dropped a lap down and spun out his championship rival. Pure class.
It was gonna be a non-championship round so teams who didn't like the idea weren't forced to show up. Rovaniemi is near the Arctic Circle so a lack of ice wouldn't have been an issue, lake or not.
