I was trying to remember that yesterday. I can't remember if applying for the exemption means you're 41st regardless of the qualifying process.

EDIT: there will be 41 cars regardless of whether the driver / team qualifies anyway. That was a clarification from the original rule.

Yeah 41 cars posted in post #2. They have to use the open provisional first now. They can't attempt to qualify and if that attempt fails then use the provisional.

Do I have to understand why there are two practice sessions AFTER the duels. There'll be very little running.

It gives the booth crew opportunities to practice filling time later in the season when there's a rain delay, etc.

I found this clip, about the same length, he found a better angle after a bit, better clip. That place was crowded, plenty of fans. Some of the hauler drivers were lollygagging so they did have some speed built up.
