2026 NASCAR Schedule

At Atlanta? I can think of only two tracks where the race is LESS in the driver's hands. One day this track may age to the point where a driver isn't dependent on others to help him in the draft. Until then, I don't want to see a championship decided by which driver was able to get the most other cars (from the same manufacturer) to push him.

And that's one of the two where a driver has the least control over his destiny.
You're right. What I meant was every driver will have an equal chance so was not really clear enough. I'm tired. LOL.

Fantastic news. Also very curious to see where the 2nd Phoenix race will fall in the schedule and what the other two tracks will be in the rotation, my money is on Las Vegas being one of them.

I think the championship should stay at Homestead.

It's a neutral site since it only has one race.

What I would do is, if the finale is rotated, rotate between Miami, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Texas, and then move the All Star Race to Bowman Gray. Give Bristol's Spring date to Rockingham. Give one of the playoff tracks' spring date to Rockingham.
Until they fix the Ingress and Egress at the Rock its a no go for a Cup race. Its ridiculous to get in and out of that track

Southern Florida, Dega, Texas, Phoenix and Vegas are about the only tracks weather wise at that time of the year. I'm not a big fan of either Homestead or Phoenix and coupled with my attitude about the rinky dink playoffs, I think they should decide the champion at Talladega. If they all wreck, just have a pill draw.
Darlington is no problem in November

They ALREADY race at Martinsville in November.

Charlotte, Darlington, and Bristol could do it.

Most markets could. It’s not cold in November anymore.

Just for giggles, I looked at the Darlington temps the year I was born, 1963. The High was 80. In 2024 the high was 74.

Rotate it around to every track on the circuit, including New Hampshire, Watkins Glen and Michigan. Hopefully it'll snow and they'll have to put chains on the tires.

Weather is a big part of it,” Kennedy said. “Being in early November, we want to make sure we’re in a warm-weather climate and that it’s an atmosphere that a lot of our fans can come out and enjoy and not get the risk of a snowstorm or anything. ... We want to make sure that we’re in a big market, a large metro (area) that can really embrace us.
Sounds like we can take M'ville, Bristol, and Darlington off the list.

I'm pretty sure only those tracks in the rotation will be in the Group of 8 / last four races. We know Homestead is in, and the article says Phoenix will remain in the rotation as a G8 race. Sounds like there will be two other tracks.
  • Vegas? It can get pretty cold in November.
  • Atlanta? Please, not a drafting track.
  • Texas, after what we just saw?
  • I like COTA but I don't see a road course as the finale; ditto the Charlotte Roval.
  • Nashville?

Homestead-Phoenix-Las Vegas-Nashville (maybe Texas. Maybe Charlotte oval). Maybe Fontana Short Track).
Yeah, I think that's it. Decent mix of ovals. Phoenix is the weak sister of the bunch but NASCAR's going to stick with it after spending the infrastructure money. Rotate between those four for the Round of 8 and the finale. Leave the tracks in the first two rounds with fixed dates and out of the rotation.

Eh, I think they will change the order of the playoff races like they did last year. They have to work everybody into the schedule. They seem to take glee in placing difficult tracks as cut off races. It gives the circus like atmosphere more credence, and gerbil Jeff and the gerbs salivate more that way. Cutoff, cut line, transfer, vital stage points and nobody but the computer knows how to score it all.

Which part, the 'no Fontana short track', 'San Diego' (Long Beach, I assume), or 'Willow Springs'? Me, I doubt any of them will be on a Cup points schedule in a year beginning '202x'.
There’ve been rumblings of a San Diego street course race as soon as 2026 since last summer. It sounds like it’s very much still an option, but probably not debuting next year.

Willow Springs is a great track, but so far away in terms of infrastructure, amenities, and safety it isn’t worth seriously discussing for at least several years.
