I figured with 26 Daytona 500 festivities under way, it’s time to start the 27 Silly Season thread. This one might be a shocker

I’ve been trying to find anything about Denny but nothing yet. That’s a clickbait tweet and apologies for posting it. But we needed a 2027 Silly Season thread anyways.
 
Denny has stated flat out on his own podcast that he has signed his last Gibbs contract and that it’s for 2026 and 2027, and also said last year at Phoenix something to the effect of “only have a couple more tries at this”. It isn’t news that next year’s 500 will be his last.
 
If Gibbs is smart, he locks down Corey Heim for 2028 and puts him in a full time Busch ride in 2027.

He won’t because of his grandson though.

That's why I thought Majeski would get Denny's ride. But I didn't realize he's driving for Ford in the trucks. I'm not sure if he has a Ford deal or just with that team.

Corey appears to be very talented, but let's give the equipment some credit as well. He was in a better piece than the rest of the field every week.

The jury is out on that as far as I am concerned. Tricon has some good stuff, but I don't believe he gets the extra special one. Daytona is way to early to tell, but lets see anybody from Tricon get half the wins he did last year.
 
I think Kyle Busch is pretty much already one foot out the door at RCR. The only question is where does he land?

I can see Spire making a run at him. If this Alex thing doesn't work out it would be cool to see him back in an HMS car, but I think that bridge is too far burnt
 
Hell, I've always thought the preacher is the worst owner to work for every since he did Tony and Zippy dirty. Nothing over the years have changed that.

Herbst to Legacy has been a rumor circling for a bit. Clears the 35 for Heim to get his overdue opportunity. And Herbst’s financial backing helps JJ get that 3rd charter and team up and running.
 
RFK Racing needs a charter for the #60 and Ryan Preece in 2027. Last year the #60 used a charter leased from Rick Ware Racing. This year, RWR has sold their second charter to Legacy, and Legacy has leased it to RFK. Legacy will put that charter on the grid in 2027 so BKez needs to look elsewhere.

I don't like this at all. I think Legacy is building something, and Herbst isn't the answer--overstating the obvious.

Probably not a surprise to anyone, but there has been chatter about what Mr. H should do with the 48, what The Captain should do with the 2, etc etc etc. But both Hamlin and Reddick say they are deep in the renewal process, with signatures expected soon.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — 23XI Racing and Tyler Reddick are closing in on a contract extension that would keep the driver, who’s off to a historic start to the season, with the team long term, 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin said Tuesday at a team party NASCAR hosted to celebrate Reddick’s Daytona 500 win.

Although Hamlin did not divulge specific terms of the contract offered to Reddick and stressed nothing is signed, he’s confident the team will re-sign Reddick...

“No, I don’t think so. I don’t think so,” Hamlin said when asked whether he thought there was a chance of losing Reddick to a different team.

“I’m just really proud of where we are today and the progress we’re making,” Reddick said. “I want to be here; I love racing here at 23XI and I’m looking forward to getting all buttoned up so we can move on.”

Its interesting to me how often a professional athlete (in many sports) steps up their game in a "contract year. " Professional football being the biggest in my observation. Although I am not saying in Tyler's case that this is simply a matter within his sole control.
