3 Drivers in the TOP 20 who will be looking for a new ride by the end of the year.

I was watching Nascar Race Hub on Speed last night.

One of the 3 guys on the panel posed a thought on me that has stuck until today. Hard to do with me, I have such limited capacity. So I thought I would put it up to the great sharp bright and nimble minds of RACING FORUMS.COM.

Who will they be?

I will go first.

#1 JOEY LOGANO

Who's gonna fill the 22? Matt Kenseth perhaps? Since Jack is so short on sponsors, and the pool keeps drying.

AJ could end up back in it, but his contract is for just this year. Where would Home Depot go? If SHR could nail down a top driver, they probably would run to them as fast as they can.

I see lots and lots of sponsors and drivers moving around in the next 2 years. Before it's over, I think Penske will be at 4 teams and JGR down to 2. Ganassi will be on life support, and RCR will be more like DCR. If Jack can't keep Matt in a fulltime car, he could be the biggest free agent next year, and Roger would snap him up in a second. Kurt Busch will also be back as a player for a top team after his 'lets have fun at camp 51' stint. Hell, Kurt could end up in a top ride this year, because there is no contract with Finch.

My dislike of sliced bread is legendary so I wholeheartily agree.:) Penske to 4 teams? Driving what? Penske is tight fisted,he's not going to throw money down a rat hole. I can see JGR down to just 2. Same with RF. brain phart, who is DCR?

It would not surprise me to see HD back on Tony's car

Driving what? Fords, of course. I could see Roger nabbing Stenhouse, Bayne or even Kenseth in the next 2 years. Penske is cheap? Yeah, it's not like Roger funded a new and unproven driver for a year and a half to see him become his star.

DCR? Dillion Childress racing, of course. ;)

Seeing as how AJ only signed a 1 year contract with Penske my guess is he is just seat filler until Hornish is ready for the ride.

I think Ganassi is better off then you think. Lets not remember that EGR actually announced that they were full on sponsors this year. Bass Pro, McDs, and Target aren't going anywhere yet.

Good points, but I'm looking out over 2 years. Ganassi tore the organization down and rebuilt it to be better. With Jamie and Juan more than 80 points out this early, things need to get turned around in dramatic fashion soon.

Yup I agree, unless AJ finishes high in the points above BK he's gone.

I initially thought AJ was just a seat filler, much like Stremme was in '09, but the more I hear, the more I believe Roger will get Shell to do a multi-year AJ deal before the season is over. With Sam's so-so NW performance so far, I doubt anyone is waiting on him in cup.

I see Martin Truex at Gibbs, keeping the #20 seat warm for Ryan. Then, Vickers gets Truex's ride. Logano goes back to Nationwide. I also see Jamie McMurray ending up out of a ride.

Just takes a win or 2 and they are back in it. With out a doubt I could see both drivers doing that.

Sam is just a handful of races from his last win. Phoenix last year. Lets not forget that. He will finish in the top 4 in NNS points this year with a couple of wins.

If Gibbs was serious about Ryan Truex then they would have dumped Brian Scott and put Ryan in the 11.

The key to the puzzle is..how bad are things at Roush and Childress ? They have drivers but no sponsors. Teams like Ganassi , Waltrip and Penske seem flush with sponsors but could use another top ten driver.

Exactly. These things aren't decided on driver performance alone.

Sam is at the bottom of the cup lite drivers, and in danger of being passed by Cole Whitt, Malsam, Allgaier and Bliss. He needs to step it up or face the reality that stock car racing isn't for him. Indy car is making all the right moves to bring excitement and fans back, so he may want to get back in before the middle age spread hits.

RCR's just keeping a seat warm for Austin and/or Ty. Menard's ride is bought and paid for, he's not going anywhere. Burton's just keeping the seat warm for Austin Dillon, who's a two wins a year, top 12 driver. The question for RCR is what does he do when Ty, who will probably be a championship winning driver, is Cup ready.

Sorry , maybe my post wasn't clear. My concern is the apparent decline of sponsorship money at RCR and Roush . They do not appear to be doing as good a job selling , as say ,MWR and Ganassi . If sales do not increase they may not be able to supply rides for all of the drivers they have under contract. Top ten drivers like Kenseth , Biffle and Harvick could be free agents if things don't improve .

Roush is getting sponsors for the one car he cares about. The other two cars are there to support Carl Edwards. Roush knows that, his drivers know that and his sponsors demand that.

RCR only has problems on one car, driven by someone who should have retired two years ago. Menard's ride is bought and paid for. Harvick's got some sponsor problems but not enough for him to lose a ride over. Austin will attract sponsors for the same reason Kasey Kahne does, the teenage girls who watch NASCAR for the drivers think he's hot. Ty will attract sponsors because he's a wheel. Burton knows he's only there to keep seats warm and Harvick would have no problem bailing RCR if it came down to it. Harvick wins races and he'd have no problem finding a ride.

RCR is allowed 4 cars, so what's the problem?

Also, haven't you been campaigning against Ty's talent?

The biggest problem is the sponsors who actually have an interest in NASCAR aren't allowed to come in to the sport because of NASCAR's exclusitivity contracts, and a bigger problem is that NASCAR has now placed itself in direct competition with race teams for sponsorship.

Ty's a wheel. I just don't think he got the best experience in ARCA. Richard should've had him move to the back in some of the big track races and have him work his way through the field. You don't learn anything when you've got the best car and you lead every lap.

I think Ty's the better of the two.

They've been doing it for too long. There are probably 4 or 5 wireless companies that would at least be a part time sponsor for a car. Then there's tobacco, which I can kinda understand the ban. I wonder what limits Sunoco and Goodyear get.

Earth to Andy........Did you write that the first place driver and the third place drive in Nascar are paid to support the eleventh place driver ? And their sponsors are good with that ?

Lets take a look at Kasey's sponsers through the years

Dodge
Bud
Redbull
Farmers Insurance

All things teenage girls are attracted to.

Wait a second..... I like all of those things too! Are you saying........I'm a teenage girl?

Dodge - I could care less on this actually. I'm not brand loyal for car brands. I'll driver anything that gets me from point A to B.

Bud - My beer of choice. Screw all of you internet wannabe beer connoisseurs out there that the common beer is beneath them. I'm a proud Bud drinker.

Redbull - Damn straight. Well, not straight. Add some Cherry Vodka to that and it's pretty darn good.

Farmers Insurance - One of my life insurance policies.

Here's my 3.....1.) Joey Lagano. Unfortunately for him the fast track wasn't the right track. He's got a crap load of talent but can not put it together @ JGR. I think of would have been different for him if he had a couple years of Nationwide experience before he would've been a lot better off.
2.) Greg Biffle. We all know what contracts mean, and we all no what sponsorship problems mean. RFR is struggling to find sponsors, and being his age and a lack of victories right now, put it all together and he might be the odd man out. RFR has a couple young guys that he'd love to give a ride to and can't.
3.) Juan Pablo Montoya- Why I put him on this list, I wonder if Chip will pull the plug. Unfortunately there's not enough road courses on the schedule for him to be successful. He makes bonehead mistakes more often than not, and I don't really think drivers think to much of his racing style. In my opinion they'll be 2 new drivers for Ganassi next year. They need to get it together.
