6 to go... are you excited people?

The larger plate will make the cars run hot quicker and also make the switch easier and faster.

Cars in tandem will be 10 mph faster than single cars, so everyone will be working the switch in practice. Whoever perfects it could be running up front most of the day.

With the Chase and the two car tandems, I'm guessing the superteams will have cars push all day -- maybe run no tape on the grill for the car designated to push. But the cars go so much faster in the two car tandems, that style of racing isn't going away anytime soon.

Another thing to remember is they can't grease the bumpers anymore. That could definitely CAUSE the BIG ONE. Just sayin'...

Random, crazy thought here. Maybe instead of restrictor plates NASCAR should just remove the rear spoiler at Talladega and Daytona. Make the drivers actually "drive" the cars like they had to do 50 years ago. I know it will never happen and I'm just joking, but still... that would make the drivers "drive."

Give them tires as hard as bowling ball rubber so they have to lift off the throttle going into the turns. That would shake things up!

My guess is everyone will have teflon coating on their bumpers.

Teflon is considered a lubricant and will be tested for. The lack of a lubricant will not get rid of the push drafting it just makes it much harder to do thru the corners, thats the same concept as the lowered cooling system pressure which will cause the cars to need air more and break apart.
NASCAR's idea on this is to help get the cars seperated at times instead of locked together all the way around the track.

Then we have a high banked California

:AHHHH:

The only thing that I saw on it that was released was from the initial report on the changes and it read.....

In the technical bulletin issued to teams this week outlining the changes at Talladega, there was also a note that “the addition of lubricants to the rear bumper cover will not be permitted.”

I suppose 'lubricants' just about any foreign substance.

Wax and clear coat also reduce friction.

Wax, Clear coat and wrap material are Normaly found on the bumpers NASCAR is checking for the Addition of Lubricants. There have been a couple clarifications on whats considered a lubricant.

Thanks for explaining that. Yet another thing for NASCAR to police. Now they need to figure out what JJ was 'closing' at Charolette. I always wondered why teams don't use a simple, driver adjustable vent instead of tape on the grill. MoeJoe thinks maybe it's an adjustable vent on the brake ducks instead.

Astro Glide? KY Jelly?

I think they should just put rollers on the bumpers and stand back!

My interpretation of that was that Jimmie was turning on/off the fans for the brakes. I think I heard the word "close" as well, but I think he meant "turn off."

As for the lubricants, I can't imagine they would outlaw wax. I always see a crew member touching up the cars with some sort of spray right before the races, it's probably a spray cleaner/wax.

Last Plate Race (Daytona I guess, right?) the pit reporters showed crew members in the garage area coating the bumpers with PAM cooking spray.

Guess what they are using during practice. :D

It's not a Lubricant :D

Someone had a change of heart. It's slick tape, and it actually has a lubricant layer so it is "self lubricating". Slick tape. Exactly what I said teams would do to circumvent the rule. We'll see if NASCAR modifies their rule, but they allowed it for 2 pratices.

Here's another of my predictions that was correct.

The larger plate will make the cars run hot quicker and also make the switch easier and faster.

The switches were much faster because the trailing car was able to catch up to the new lead car easier. Unlike the EFI test, cars weren't running 10 laps together. Biffle was blowing steam after just 5 laps on Carl's bumper.

Good Job FB, by the way its vinyl wrap tape and NASCAR said vinyl wrap material was allowed :D

I don't see Vinyl tape holding up to the beating for long, and soft so it bunches up. It was reported to be slip tape, which is layered polyvinyl with a lubricant layer that pushes through under pressure. I'm sure no team would mention that part of the equation.

I've worked with Vinyl sheets, and they aren't slick under pressure and become even softer with just a little friction heat.

This is interesting to me, so I hope a reporter gets the real facts on what is being used. If it is skateboard slip tape, it's way beyond simple teflon tape.
