and the battery is behind the driver in the first pic instead of the rear wheel well like the cars of nowadays

I think this is going to be nearly impossible to pin down the year with the info we have from just the 2 pics. Remember Childress has a brazillion cars, are we comparing a Daytona/Tega car to a Martinsville or Lowes car?

I know we changed interior layout for driver comfort, also changed dash boards when we went with different gauges or switch location.

I know in Honcho's first pic we'd get grief over the location of the battery A-B cut-off switch, it appears too far away to be reached from outside the drivers window.

Good discussion though.:)

thats why I think that from the pic, we need to look at two things that wouldn't change..... first the Earnhardt bar...... those were put in after 96, and it is in that pic. The second is the uniform..... notice the uniform and hat. Neither have the word "Plus' on them.... that was added near end of 97,and was on after 98. It still has teh white Goodwrench on the shoulder instead of the red Plus........... I think those two things should point to 97....... but I could be wrong.

BTW, thanks for the nice comments on my article.

This has been a fun post readin the stories, and everybody sharin their memories, and playin archeologist......lol.

What year were roof flaps mandated? I don't see the "box" in this pic.

if you look behind the rear loop, there is a cable hanging down and above it is a riveted rectangle.... that should be the roof flap set up. The rear loop is hidin the front face of the box..... I think that is why it is hard to see.

yup. So 1997 it is. lol

Now we just need a pic of the COT from similar angle :p
