Aaron's 312

On The Finish: You know recently everytime Jr is in a position to win one of these things, there's always a guy like Biffle who would rather sacrifice a good finish for himself to keep Jr out of victorylane. Bif instead of pushing Jr past Tony elected not to help him and ended up outside of the top 5 along with him. Ultimately what Jr should've done is stay behind Tony till they came off four on the final lap then made the move outside and side-drafted him the way Bobby did last year, at least thats what I'd have done seeing as how he should've known Bif was a wildcard. Stremme would've helped him but he wasn't there...

On lepage: You know what i've been watching NASCAR for a long time now and i've seen and heard some stupid things but nothing like what lepage did today, that takes the whole cake in one swallow. I got to apologize to the Wallaces, at first I thought they may have triggered it till they showed the replay. How in heck could lepage have thought it would be OK to pull up on the banking in that location with the pack bearing down on him. You could clearly hear his spotter telling him to watch for the pack and yet in his interview he said that the pack should have been watching for him cause his car was a bright color & that half a dozen cars had already gone by. I saw alot of replays and the pack had just caught him as soon as he was pulling up on the bank. Even then, still he was not at speed going much slower than the leaders. I dunno, I think NASCAR should penalize him somehow, that was pretty dumb & could've have seriously injured someone(s)...

The half a dozen that got by him were the ones in the middle and top grooves. The guys on the bottom had to scatter to avoid him. Carl just didn't have enough reaction time.

His interview is what really tics me off. What an ass. Thats the sign of an idiot when he thinks everyone else is doing it wrong but his way is right. I'd beat the snot out of him if I were one of the drivers involved and then heard his interview. Somebody needs to kick the crap out of him and then NASCAR should give him the boot.

He's the guy you see merging on the interstate doing 30mph. What an idiot.

LaPage finally appologizes for his huge error. After seeing the replay over and over, he now says he sees what a big error he made and that his interview obviously was enough to make plenty of people mad at him. He owns up to being the only person who was at fault and appologized to NASCAR, drivers, owners and the fans. Says that he's worked for 25 years to get the trust of all and it will take a long time to regain that trust after what he did. Said that this was the worst mistake he's made in his racing carreer.

I know that this is probably too little, too late for many fans, but at least he has admitted to what he did and said that he was sorry. I've never been a fan of Kevin's, but he's been around for a long time and I think they will give him another shot.

That looked like a wreck that we see on the public dega servers in NR2k3. People do that all the time to be idiots. Never thought i would see somebody do it on the real race track.

Here's Lepage's "apology"

Lepage offers apology after accident during Saturday's race
DAVID POOLE
The Charlotte Observer
Sunday, Apr. 27, 2008
After looking at replays of a multicar crash in Saturday's Nationwide Series race, driver Kevin Lepage issued a letter of apology on Sunday.

"I caused 'The Big One,' " Lepage said. "I realize I need to apologize to NASCAR, the car owners, my fellow competitors and most importantly the fans. I made a huge driver error by blending onto the race track in the wrong area.

"This caused a multi-car accident and changed the outcome of the race for many teams. I'm so thankful that no one was hurt considering the number of cars involved. In over 25 years of racing this was the biggest mistake I've ever made behind the wheel of a stock car and I promise that it will not happen again.

"It is such a terrible feeling knowing that NASCAR, the car owners, fellow competitors and NASCAR fans think this was a 'bonehead' move and I certainly don't want anyone thinking of me in these terms. Speaking yesterday before reviewing the tapes of the accident made me look like a heel and there is not a single person to blame for this huge mistake except myself."

I'm sure the drivers involved feel soooo much better. NOT !!

I'm glad he admitted his mistake. I wonder if he was "persuaded to see the light" or actually realized his mistake on his own. I still think he should be fined or something for being that careless. As I said before, if NASCAR can fine for swearing and helmet throwing, they should also penalize for mistakes as grave as that one (yes, I realize what a can of worms that would open up).

While this was clearly a monumental driver error, if they began fining drivers for mistakes, I'm afraid that would open the door to a lot of controversy. It's one thing to drive "over aggressively" and another to drive like an idiot.
