Absolutely Ridiculous.

I don't doubt that the lack of SAFER barriers is all about the money.....
Between holding back the new track drying equipment this past year and the lack of adequate SAFER barriers at a number of tracks, for the life of me, I just don't know what this guy is thinking.

Might not the 'moron' fans that constantly complain about high tickets prices , then don't even go to the races , be a little bit of an impediment to getting improvments made ? I don't see where Brian France's ex wife should kick in bucks that 'fans' aren't willing to cost share. I'm likely way out of line as usual , but I think track owners have made tremendous improvements.

Track owners pay for safety barriers , track drying equipment and everything else . In addition they pay Nascar a huge franchise fee for the priviledge of holding a Nascar event . When track attendence was at it's peak , it was still a liscence to print money . Now ,with declining attendence , some track owners are finding the profit margins getting narrower and narrower . That's no excuse for sacrificing safety , but they simply can't afford to do everything , including track repaving , reconfigurations , new garage and fan viewing areas , better fan access roads , more and more security ,etc., etc., etc . Calling Nascar morons is not helpful , in my humble opinion . Prehaps if you took twenty or thirty of your friends out to the next race ?
Yeah.. can't afford it anymore.. but how much you wana bet all those guys take home the same pay checks they did when the attendance was high?

I'd also be willing to bet that the price of a SAFER barrier on a small piece of wall like that is probably less costly than it is to make ONE of these top tier race cars that smash into it.

Nothing is perfect. There isn't another racing body that even comes close to what nascar does for driver safety.

After Kyle's comments, it's clear some drivers feel TOO safe and cause these odd hits.

Your train of thought escapes me, as usual.

The idea of fans seeing high ticket prices, and then complaining about them because they're unable to afford buying the damn things, isn't a contradiction but instead a logical progression.

Currently, because the demand for tickets is down and supply is up, it would be a good time to lower prices across the board.

However, because they're apparently more interested in the TV money they're guaranteed to get until God knows when, ticket prices and the lack of attendance don't seem to be a problem.

My point in quoting that article had nothing to do with France's ex-wife. It's his fortune that I was trying to bring attention to.

And I agree whole heartedly, from what I've read, there have been tremendous improvements made at numerous tracks over the last 10 years or so. They need to continue with the good work.

How in the sweet **** can you even think about blaming fans for there being no full SAFER barriers at some tracks???? What the hell is wrong with you, anyway?

Many of the drivers today came in after Sr's death and have benefited greatly from the safety improvements made. Compare the car of today with one from 2000, the seat and belts have undergone massive improvements. Along with improvements in the roll cage by adding addition roll bars. The chassis has undergone modification to better absorb impact and now there's foam in the doors.

The seat has been described as a cocoon "encapsulating" the driver, a far cry from the old aluminum seat without head restraints.

I'll go along with what FB saying they feel "too safe" but add they feel invincible as most of us males did when we were that age.

Sr's lap belt didn't break, it was installed the way he liked it and he had been told by Bill Simpson that it was installed incorrectly.

I hate to go the whole way back to then but it tore apart because he had it installed improperly.
