If alex boman can come in on a part time basis and out run kahne there is definitely something wrong with kasey. there is alot more to just jumping into one of these cars and going fast. The team has to communicate, the driver has to know how to get on and off pit road. Alex has shown more speed driving for a team that isn't even his than kasey has shown from a team that is tailor made for him and his driving style. just wanted to make that point.

Kahne does not belong at Hendrick. He has been the runt of the team since he got there. Bowman has run consistently up front or near the front most of the time. Put Bowman in the #5

Can you believe this stat on Kahne this year? He's the only driver in the garage to have completed every lap this year, yet he has also not led a SINGLE lap all year.

Kahne is the worst underperformer in the whole Cup garage. At some point you have to stop making excuses and say enough is enough.

How about those stats don't show that even in the races he didn't come out with a good finish he was running up front for a majority of the time?

He's done a nice job.

Damn, really?

edit: Nope, I went to check he's not led any laps correct, but he also hasn't finished every lap.

Some he finished a lap or two off the lead, has even wrecked in one.

If JR comes back next year then I would love to see Bowman replace Kahne in the #5 car.

Bowman and Chase on the same team WOWZERS! RCR & RFR might as well stay home. Maybe JGR & Penske too.

I still say RPM should consider getting Kahne back, I mean other than Ambrose, Kahne had by far the most success in what is now the 44 car.

I mean he finished 10th in the standings with RPM, we already know what Almirola brings to the table, he's a solid driver, but Kasey is that needed driver above Almirola. I think those two together would be a great pairing, but understanding they ended on not the best terms...

I just hope he keeps this momentum up into next season, Kasey needs a great season from start to finish.

That's like suggesting that Front Row should consider signing Jimmie Johnson. Kahne ended up at RPM by accident when Evernham folded and couldn't wait to get out. RPM has been through so much turmoil and so many different iterations, it's not comparable. Kyle Busch or the ghost of David Pearson couldn't drive the crapheaps they are putting out into the top ten. I imagine Kahne would rather follow in Stewart's footsteps and go have fun racing sprint cars if that were his best option.

They made the worse move to make their own chassis this year and stop buying chassis from Roush, I can understand why and Roush's constant turmoil, but RPM has been so up and down its ridiculous. They need to find a driver to get them to that next level, but they need the chassis to be better than what they have now. They have been terrible this year.

I feel bad for Almirola. I think he is a better than average Cup driver who landed in the wrong spot.

I really wanted Bowman to get the win at Avondale. It would have really put an exclamation point on his resume. The kid is worthy of a good cup ride, and by that I mean he has the driving skills.
But at the end of the day the sponsor that inks the deal is the king maker. I am sure an owner has some power, but that is still contolled by whoever writes the checks.

Really no guarantees, and sponsors are are unique as people. All with different tastes and priorities. Unfortunately just driving the best is only a part of the deal.

Considering they fired him with 5 races left in the season when he accurately complained about the quality of cars he was getting before leaving for Red Bull I doubt he would be back.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about that.

Kahne is flat out awful. He ran at a Arctic Cat dirt race at a local track and was 17th out of 30 and was lapped by the winner Larson

I was full out unimpressed by him

I used to Luv Kasey. But now he's another pampered rich boy driver that seems to have a lack of motivation.

That said, his Crew Chief sucks.

He needs to be vocal about getting a better crew chief and not getting Hendricks' bottom equipment to earn redemption. If he's goin' along to get along, screw him.

The guy has won 17 races, so he does know how to drive. He needs to find (or have someone find it for him) motivation.

Kasey seems to have fallen into the #5 syndrome..... that team seems to have had no consistent luck other than Labonte... If I recall correctly it used to be Papa Joes' 25 team..... Mark drove the 5 for a while and had random runs.... Tim Richmond had the best luck in the 25 back in the late 80's....Geoff Bodine...... after that...... not much...... seems everyone who got into that car just couldn't make anything happen.......

the problem in my mind is kahne himself I feel there is something wrong with him. I don't know if its concussion or what. he seems kind of loopy lately when he has given interviews. These guys should be good enough to drive a teammates setup at least close to the speeds the other guy is running. Meaning if jimmie is the class of the field that day. kahne should be able to drive the same setup within a couple tenths. a good driver can and must adapt to a car and learn to drive it differently depending on what is needed to go fast. What do you think they did for chase or alex boman. they simply put together a package for them based on simulation, based on data etc that should be fast. its up to the driver to get it done from there. that means adjusting their driving style. that means learning how to tweak it to their taste, etc. kahne is not cutting the mustard when chase elliott and even alex now are flat out running him.

That #5 is the runt of Hendrick. This is a complete R&D car for the rest of the team. Kahne is only the most recent victim...

2005-2007: Kyle Busch performed decent...but not nearly at the level he's performed at Gibbs or the performance of his Hendrick teammates at the time.
2008: Casey Mears was an absolute trainwreck in the 5.
2009-2011: Mark Martin was one driver to actually put up stats competitive to his teammates in the 2009 season...proceeded to go winless in 2010 and 2011.
2012-present: Kasey Kahne has the lowest average finish of all four Hendrick drivers in 2013, 2014, and 2015

The 25 was always the 25, and the 5 was always the 5. They never swapped numbers between those teams.

I remember a post wreck interview with him a couple years ago where he just looked completely confused and unraveled, claimed he couldn't hear the question, and just stopped talking to awkwardly cut it short. The whole thing was so weird though.
