ALL STAR PRE - RACE thread @ Dover.

Whoever posted earlier about money being left on the table, needs to look at this tweet. Cup All Star purse $3.1 million for the entire field. Purses for points races start about $12 million and some races are much higher. I would venture to guess that one Cup team will be profitable this weekend, i.e. the winning team that pulls in the $1 million winners share.

Show up money and a little more if you finish higher.

Cup cars should never run at a track shorter than a 1/2 mile.
I won't go quite that far when we're discussing a non-points race (that I'm not likely to watch anyway). For points racing, Cup cars should never race on a track that can't accommodate a full field of 36+ cars all on the track at the same time, or that can't support green flag pit stops.

That's not an all-star GAME, it's a complete tournament.

Q: how did the NHL handle participation of star players that weren't from one of the four participating countries? Were they just left out entirely?
Oh man, just let that nonsense lie. Put it in the comparison to stick n ball B.S. file and be done with it.

Larson fastest in practice.

Stenhouse gets a standing ovation for his Jimmie Johnson rendition during the pit crew challenge qualifying.

Trying to make heads or tails out of this new format has my head spinning. A 26 car invert??? Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't that just invite sandbagging with the guys up front to get to the back? Seems like another unnecessary gimick by Nascar.

Gimmicky indeed.

Apparently sandbagging shouldn't be a thing as the "Lowest combined finishing positions from both (earlier) Segments set the starting lineup for the Final Segment."

Just keep your scorecard and a sharpened pencil handy. :puffin:

Charlotte worked for alot of years
Charlotte worked for a long time until it didn’t. It got bad enough at a point during the Gen 6 that we cut the power down to 450 HP for one year. I think especially with the fall race now reverting to the oval that the ASR moving back would be an unnecessary redundancy. I don’t think Dover is the answer by any means, but I don’t mind NASCAR using this weekend to try different things. It is, after all, an exhibition.
