Sprint Showdown will be run on the night of the Truck race. All Star Race "No Limit" qualifying on Saturday before the All Star race.

I don't like it. The "Sprint Showdown" is one of my favorite races and it being right before the All Star Race puts the spotlight on the drivers who don't normally get it. Now, it's on Friday night where they won't get time the spotlight at all. Not to mention, it robs fans who buy their Saturday ticket - now it's less racing. The qualifying races are gone and it's just a main event now.

Here we go FenderBumper, during the Chase, we can have the Chase drivers race at one track and the non-Chase drivers race at another track at the same time and install rules as to which race NBC affiliates in select markets can air.

Or maybe we can have the Chase drivers race on the oval and the non-Chase drivers race at the infield road course (or, in the case of Dover, the infield horse track).

I don't like it. In stick and ball, the teams compete against 1 team each week, and that doesn't change for the playoffs. Why change the formula for nascar's playoff?

What I would do is end qualifying for chase drivers. You pick your stall and start the race based on your points position.

Having the Showdown on Friday also takes the advantage of what amounts to a practice session for/just before the All-Star race for the teams that make the cut in the Showdown.

Why won't they get the spotlight on Friday? Do you think the fans that would watch the truck race and the All-Star race won't watch the Showdown race?

I don't mind. The ASR kinda sucks anyways. Qualifying is the best part. Although I can see how the lower-tier teams could be bummed about not having the exposure they did before.

ASR attendance/ratings >>>>>>> Truck race attendance/ratings.

Do you think people that watch the Sprint All-Star Race will watch the Truck race and the Sprint Showdown???

I should make a bet with Brian France. I bet him the entire NASCAR corporation that he can't go five years without changing anything in NASCAR.

Not only would he lose, but I'd be in charge of the sport. :D

Now there's a bonus to root for. ;)

The ASR has been a complete bummer the past few years. Much more hype than racing. Teams are just using this race as a practice session for the 600 instead of racing balls to the wall

I do have to give Brian credit where credit is due though. Not all of the changes over the last 5 years have been bad. For example, if nothing had changed in the last 5 years:

-Sprint Cup Cars would still have wings on them.

-Cup guys could still run for Nationwide championships

-The Mustang and Camaro wouldn't be in the Nationwide Series

-"Boys Have At It" never would have happened.

-We'd still be using the old points system with just the Top 12 making the Chase.

-The Trucks would never have gone to Eldora.

They are really going balls deep changing things this year. By the end of it they'll even change the name itself to shread the "redneck" image they are known for.

This is all very disheartening.

They can do all the changing they want, it's still cars with a engine, not a stick and ball sport that you take/learn in gym class. Only a certain amount of people are going to be nascar fans no matter what way they chose to dress it up.

EXACTLY!!! Try talking to one of these football fans that just says... "Oh.. Look! They're turning left!".... they just don't get it and most never will.... we are the enlightened ones :D

Be that as it may, the changes are for said people in hope to gain their attention.

The tue NASCAR fans are the one who suffer because of Brian's big ego.

I'm not talking just about this change, I know you're slow but try to keep up.

I know ur not... that's the point.... I know UR slow but at least try sounding out the second half of the sentence before you get frustrated and give up

Slice fails again.

Doesn't even know when to use "you're" and "your."

You're slow and illiterate
